According to the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, as of the afternoon of March 23 (Vietnam time), the death toll from the attack at the concert hall in the Crocus City Hall shopping and performing arts center in Moscow was 115, with at least 145 injured. Eleven people have been arrested following the bloody attack, including four who are directly involved.
In a statement posted on Telegram, the committee stated: “Currently, 115 deaths have been confirmed. The death toll is likely to rise.” At the same time, the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) informed President Vladimir Putin that 11 people had been arrested following the bloody attack, including four who were directly involved in the incident.
According to the Russian news site Baza on March 23, the identities of four of the six suspected terrorists involved in the attack have been confirmed. All four are Tajik citizens: Nasridinov Makhmadrasul, 37; Ismonov Rivozhidin, 51; Safolzoda Shokhinjonn, 21; and Nazarov Zustam, 29.
According to Interfax, citing the FSB, four suspects were apprehended on the morning of March 23rd while heading towards the Russian-Ukrainian border and had contact with Ukrainians. The FSB stated that the attack was carefully planned. Russia is currently working to identify additional accomplices.
According to a Kremlin statement released the same day by the TASS news agency, Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko held a telephone conversation and affirmed their readiness to cooperate in the fight against terrorism.
According to TASS, the fire destroyed an area of 12,900 square meters, with the roof beginning to partially collapse. Russian investigators said the terrorists set the fire using flammable liquid after carrying out a frenzied shooting spree in the audience area.
Due to the tragedy, theaters in Moscow canceled performances, cinemas and museums closed, and several universities announced the cancellation of classes on Saturday. Security measures were tightened at Moscow's airports and train stations.
A reporter from the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) in Moscow spoke with Counselor Vu Xuan Viet, Head of the Consular Section and Deputy Head of the Community Affairs Department of the Vietnamese Embassy in the Russian Federation, who is directly involved in protecting Vietnamese citizens. Counselor Vu Xuan Viet stated that there is currently no information regarding casualties among Vietnamese citizens in this attack.
