The delegation from the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases visited the students to inquire about their health status before and after hospitalization; to learn more about related epidemiological factors; to directly examine the students' medical records; and to hear reports from representatives of the Thai Nguyen Provincial Department of Health and Thai Nguyen Central Hospital on matters related to the cases.
During the meeting, the head and members of the delegation from the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases affirmed that the health of the 11 students from Thai Nguyen Industrial College currently being treated at Thai Nguyen Central Hospital is stable and they can be discharged in 1-2 days.
The test results from the Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology for the patient samples were not positive for diphtheria and meningitis. The working group from the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases has not yet confirmed whether the cases are related to infectious diseases.
Authorities have requested that Thai Nguyen Industrial College continue to make the best possible preparations to ensure safety when welcoming students back to school and activities as planned.
