According to the indictment, at about 10:20 a.m. on August 4, 2022, while on patrol, the Lap Vo District Police working group received a report from the people that two subjects had stolen property from a truck along National Highway N2B, in Binh Thanh Commune, Lap Vo District.

Upon receiving the news, the working group of 4 comrades quickly organized a pursuit, asking the subject to stop the vehicle for inspection, but the subject did not comply and instead swerved and fought back fiercely, causing one comrade in the working group to die.

Based on the above actions, the People's Court sentenced defendant Ngo Hoang Tho to 19 years in prison for murder and theft, and ordered him to compensate the victim's family VND180 million; defendant Pham Hong Qui to 2 years and 6 months in prison for theft and resisting law enforcement officers.
