According to new regulations on identity authentication, starting from January 1, 2026, banks will close all transaction features on Mobile Banking and Internet Banking for users who have not synchronized identification information and biometric data according to the standards of the National Population Database.
This measure is applied to meet the State Bank's request to filter out non-standardized accounts and limit the risk of high-tech fraud, which increases sharply during the period before Tet.
Accounts in the following cases will be temporarily suspended from online transactions.
Firstly, customers still use 9-digit ID cards and have not switched to chip-embedded ID cards in the data stored at the bank.
Second, customers have expired identification documents but have not updated new information.
Third, the customer has not collected biometrics (face) or the existing biometric data does not match the information on the CCCD chip.
When online transactions are locked, account holders must go to the counter to authenticate and reactivate, which can cause congestion during the peak year-end period.

Users are advised to complete information standardization in December 2025 to avoid affecting money transfers and payments during Tet.
The update process can be done on the banking application via NFC technology. Just log in, select the information update section and put the CCCD card with chip on the back of the phone for the system to read and synchronize data.
In case the device does not support NFC or has technical errors, customers should come to the transaction office early, before December 31, 2025, to receive direct support and avoid overload at the end of the year.
Currently, Vietcombank, VietinBank, Agribank and BIDV have issued regulations to stop online transactions for customers who have not synchronized identification information and biometric data according to the National Population Database standards, which will officially take effect from January 1, 2026.
This decision was made to meet the urgent needs of the State Bank in its efforts to clean up the financial market, eliminate unregistered accounts and minimize the risk of high-tech fraud which is on the rise during the Tet holiday. According to the latest announcement, the regulation to stop trading will target three specific cases that have not completed data standardization on the system.
