30 years is not too long, but for Quang Trung High School (Phu Trach commune, Quang Tri province), it is a journey long enough to affirm the ability to overcome difficulties, maturity and aspiration to rise up. Today, the school has become a home of knowledge, giving wings to dreams for many generations of students in the Lao wind and white sand region.
The journey of growing up
Established on July 12, 1995, the predecessor of Roon Secondary School, Quang Trung High School has gone through 30 years of construction and development, leaving a glorious mark in the career of educating people in the homeland.
In its early days, the school had only 15 classrooms, including just 3 high school classes, with 19 staff members, teachers, and employees. Facilities were severely lacking at that time; desks, chairs, and teaching equipment were makeshift. Despite these hardships, the teaching staff always shared a spirit of love, unity, and determination to overcome challenges, persistently sowing the seeds of knowledge for generations of students.
By 1999, the school expanded to 33 classes, including 17 high school classes. In response to the growing demand for education, on November 3, 1999, the People's Committee of Quang Binh Province (old) issued Decision No. 2069/QD-UB on the separation and formation of Quang Phu Secondary School and Quang Trach High School No. 3.
A significant turning point occurred in the 2001-2002 school year when the school relocated to a new facility next to National Highway 1. This marked a milestone, opening up opportunities for solid development, providing teachers and students with more favorable conditions for teaching and learning, and affirming its role as a key educational center in the northern part of Quang Binh province at that time.
In the 2010-2011 school year, Bac Quang Trach Semi-Public High School merged into Quang Trach High School No. 3. From then on, the school increased its size to 49 classrooms, more than 2,000 students, and 109 staff members. Not only did it grow in quantity, the quality of teaching and learning was also increasingly improved.
Along with the development process, the Party organization within the school has been gradually strengthened, increasingly affirming its leadership role. From an initial Party branch with only 11 members, the number increased to 32 by 2011. Based on this, the former Quang Trach District Party Committee decided to establish the Party Committee of Quang Trach No. 3 High School, which from then on became the central body for guiding and comprehensively directing all school activities.
On May 16, 2014, following the policy of naming schools after historical figures, Quang Trach No. 3 High School officially changed its name to Quang Trung High School. The new name carries a sense of pride and further motivates teachers and students to affirm their position and continue the tradition of academic excellence in their homeland.
Over the past three decades, Quang Trung High School has been honored with numerous prestigious awards. For many consecutive years, it has been awarded the title of "Outstanding Labor Collective," receiving the Emulation Flag from the Provincial People's Committee, Certificates of Merit from the Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Binh Province (formerly) and the Ministry of Education and Training. In particular, in 2018, the school was honored with a Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister, a testament to the continuous efforts of generations of teachers and students.
Stepping confidently into the future
From its early days to the present, the teachers and students of Quang Trung High School have diligently strived to gradually affirm its position as a prestigious school in the area. The school focuses on improving the overall quality of education, while also promoting social mobilization to enhance facilities, care for the lives of staff and teachers, and build strong internal unity.
With a campus spanning over 38,000 m², the school has invested in a modern and well-equipped infrastructure: 45 classrooms fully equipped with televisions, 11 standard subject-specific classrooms, a library, a multi-purpose hall, subject group activity rooms, an administrative area, and a dormitory with 21 spacious rooms, meeting the learning and training needs of students in this new phase. The school environment is planned to be green, clean, beautiful, and safe, creating a friendly environment for students' holistic development.
The school currently has 102 staff members, including teachers and administrative personnel, divided into 7 subject departments and 1 office department. 100% of the teachers meet the required training standards, with 28 teachers exceeding those standards. This provides a solid foundation for the school to implement innovations in teaching methods, encouraging the development of individual abilities while focusing on nurturing gifted students.
The percentage of excellent and outstanding students now reaches 15-20%, and the annual high school graduation rate is always close to 100%, reaching 99.83% in the 2024-2025 school year. The quality of top-performing students has also seen remarkable development, with 35-50 students winning provincial-level awards each year, many achieving high rankings, such as Tu Manh Quynh (First Prize in History), Tu Hong Phat (First Prize in Physics), etc.
Along with improving professional quality, the school also focuses on building a disciplined, friendly and healthy learning environment. Mass organizations such as the Party Committee, Trade Union, Youth Union, and Association for Promotion of Education... all play an effective role, contributing to creating collective strength.
Currently, the school's Party Committee has 72 party members, accounting for 74% of the school's teachers, always playing a core leadership role, and has completed its tasks well and excellently for many consecutive years.
Over the past 30 years, thousands of the school's students have grown up, many now holding important positions in Party and government agencies, businesses, or becoming doctors and masters working in various fields. The success of generations of students is a vivid testament to the tireless efforts of the school's staff.
Entering a new phase, Quang Trung High School continues to set forth many strategic directions: Consolidating the teaching staff to ensure sufficient numbers and high quality; promoting the application of information technology and digital transformation in management and teaching; increasing investment in facilities and improving the quality of mass education while simultaneously enhancing the quality of specialized programs.
The school also focuses on developing a safe and friendly learning environment, effectively coordinating with parents and society to maximize resources and create momentum for sustainable development.
Thirty years is a journey forged by dedication, intellect, and belief. The school's staff and teachers have persistently kept the flame of knowledge burning with a spirit of innovation and creativity, contributing to affirming Quang Trung High School as a reputable, high-quality, and reliable educational institution in the northern region of Quang Tri.
