Today we solemnly celebrate the 98th anniversary of Vietnam's Revolutionary Press Day, recalling the glorious tradition of our country's revolutionary press and the 17th National Press Awards Ceremony – 2022, honoring authors/groups of authors with outstanding works in their professional activities. On behalf of the leadership of the Vietnam Journalists Association and the entire press community nationwide, I would like to extend my best wishes for good health and respectful greetings to the leaders of the Party and State, distinguished delegates, veteran journalists, relatives and families of martyred journalists, all Vietnamese journalists, and numerous collaborators and those working in printing and publishing throughout the country.

Distinguished delegates and members of the public nationwide!

Under the leadership of the Party, the care and guidance of President Ho Chi Minh , and the trust and support of the people, the revolutionary press of Vietnam has always been closely associated with and accompanied the national revolutionary cause.

Throughout the country's history since the founding of the Party, revolutionary journalism has always been a leading force, a sharp spiritual weapon of the Party and the State on the ideological and cultural front, a forum for the people, and has made immense contributions to the revolutionary cause.

Generations of revolutionary journalists deserve to be considered vanguard fighters on the ideological and cultural front, as President Ho Chi Minh himself taught journalists: "Journalists are also revolutionary fighters. The pen and paper are their sharp weapons."

The Party, the State, and the people highly appreciate the role, achievements, and immense contributions of the press over the past nearly a century. The achievements of Vietnam's revolutionary press today are built upon the intellect, efforts, and even the blood of countless generations of journalists over almost a century.

The press is innovative and creative, proposing many solutions and creating good practices that have a widespread impact (Figure 2).

On the occasion of the 98th anniversary of Vietnamese revolutionary journalism, we bow our heads in gratitude and remembrance of President Ho Chi Minh, our predecessors, and the martyred journalists who bravely sacrificed their lives for the Fatherland!

Continuing that tradition, amidst the rapid development of digital technology and changes in how users receive information, the national press has consistently maintained its role as a leading force on the ideological and cultural front; sustaining its role as a continuous and official source of information; effectively disseminating the correct policies and guidelines of the Party and the State; and serving as the voice of the people, a bridge between the Party, the State, and the people.

The press nationwide has been striving to overcome difficulties and challenges, continuing to proactively innovate delivery methods, bringing new experiences to readers through digital technology applications.

The digital transformation of Vietnamese journalism has a profound impact on the entire national media system, affecting professional practices, state management, and even journalism training and research. Therefore, more than ever, journalists, especially the heads of media organizations and the Journalists' Association at all levels, need to uphold the fine traditions of Vietnamese revolutionary journalism: unwavering political conviction, loyalty to the revolutionary cause of the Party, the Fatherland, and the nation, innovation, creativity, and a proactive spirit of international integration.

With a team of over 24,000 journalists, encompassing all forms of traditional and modern journalism, we are proud to have a developed press, worthy of the trust and affection of the Party and the people.

Dear comrades and colleagues!

We are continuing to implement the Resolution of the 13th National Congress of the Party on the task of building a traditional, revolutionary, professional, modern, and humane press; strengthening the management and direction of the activities of press management agencies, focusing on training and building a team of press managers, reporters, editors, and collaborators with strong political convictions, impeccable moral character, and professional expertise to improve the effectiveness of propaganda work.

In 2022, the press provided timely, accurate, and comprehensive coverage of all developments in domestic and international life, politics, economics, and society, serving as a broad and reliable forum for the people. The press demonstrated innovative approaches in its methods of presentation, proposing many constructive solutions and effective methods with widespread influence in society.

The press has demonstrated unwavering political resolve and a high sense of social responsibility, along with masterful professional skills, creating widespread social impact. And it is gratifying that many outstanding works among them will be honored at today's awards ceremony.

Distinguished delegates and colleagues!

This year marks the 17th anniversary of the National Press Award, organized in accordance with the Prime Minister's Decisions approving the National Press Award Scheme and the Scheme to Improve the Quality of the National Press Award. This year, the number of entries submitted continued to be high at 1,894, demonstrating the strong appeal of the Award and the positive interest and participation of members and all levels of the Journalists' Association nationwide. The process of receiving entries and organizing the preliminary and final judging rounds was conducted seriously according to the Award Guidelines and Regulations, objectively, fairly, and professionally.

The Final Judging Panel evaluated 157 outstanding works selected from the Preliminary Round and decided to award 8 A Prizes, 24 B Prizes, 46 C Prizes, and 45 Encouragement Prizes, across 11 award categories, for the best works that demonstrated originality in subject matter, strong ideological content, high fighting spirit, creativity in presentation, and notably, many works from both central and local media outlets that utilized modern journalistic technology, attracting the attention of readers.

On behalf of the National Press Awards Council, I would like to extend my warmest congratulations to the award-winning authors and to the achievements of journalists nationwide. With the fine traditions we have built, with our firm political stance, professional ethics, and high level of expertise, the Vietnamese press will undoubtedly continue to develop and achieve new successes.

With that spirit, I hereby declare the opening of the 98th Anniversary Celebration of Vietnam's Revolutionary Press Day and the 17th National Journalism Awards Ceremony – 2022!

On behalf of the leadership of the Vietnam Journalists Association, I would like to extend my best wishes to Comrade Vo Van Thuong, Member of the Political Bureau, President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; the leaders of the Party and State; distinguished guests; and colleagues for good health, happiness, and success!

Thank you very much!
