On November 13, a source of the reporter said that the Investigation Police Agency of Dam Doi District Police (Ca Mau Province) initiated a case, prosecuted the accused, and detained Tran Minh Dac (55 years old, residing in Kien Giang Province, temporarily residing in Tan Trung Commune, Dam Doi District) to investigate the act of torturing TNT (4 years old).
Baby T's face and body were full of bruises.
Previously, in 2022, Mr. Tran Minh Dac and Ms. LTH (52 years old) adopted baby TNT from a person named M. and went to the People's Committee of Duong Dong Ward (Phu Quoc City) to complete the procedures for adoption. Around mid-October 2023, Mr. Dac and Ms. H. brought the baby to Trung Cang Hamlet, Tan Trung Commune to live.
On November 5, after taking his wife to the doctor, Mr. Dac got angry and beat the child after seeing the child knocking over many household items. Neighbors discovered that T. showed signs of abuse, so they reported it to the authorities and people around to rescue the child.
Baby T. was then taken to a medical facility for care with many injuries on his body such as: scratches on both eyes, bruised and bleeding lips, swelling on the forehead above the right eye, bruised and swollen middle finger of the right hand, bruises on the chest and back...
Working with the authorities, initially, Dac admitted that since taking T. in to raise him, he has used tree branches to hit him many times to "discipline" him.
Currently, the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Ca Mau province has coordinated with the authorities and functional units of Dam Doi district to carry out the process of receiving baby TNT to the provincial Social Protection Center under the "emergency protection" category.
