The secret for a male student in Hanoi to become the valedictorian of block A00 with 3 perfect scores of 10

This morning (July 16), Nguyen Tu Quyet, a student at Nguyen Gia Thieu High School (Hanoi), burst into tears when he received his high school graduation exam results with 3 perfect scores of 10 in Math, Physics, Chemistry and became the valedictorian of block A00. In addition, Quyet's Literature exam also scored 8.75 points. What's special is that throughout 12 years of school, this male student almost never took extra classes, mainly self-studied, and still maintained excellent student achievements continuously.

Sleepless waiting for exam results

Last night, Quyet couldn't sleep because he was anxiously waiting for the exam results. At 8am this morning, he and his mother sat in front of the computer screen waiting to see the scores and were shocked when the results appeared. All the subjects Math, Physics, and Chemistry in the admission group scored 10 points, making him the top student in the A00 group. In addition, the male student's Literature exam also scored 8.75 points.

In this year's High School Graduation Exam, Tu Quyet chose group A00 to apply for admission to the Information Technology major at Hanoi University of Science and Technology.

Talking to PV Tien Phong , Quyet shared his "great joy" and he texted his homeroom teacher of class 12A9, his Math teacher, and the people who worked hard to accompany and support him throughout his studies and exam preparation.

“From the beginning, I set a goal to enter Hanoi University of Science and Technology. Knowing that this is a school with high admission scores every year, I have to study seriously and strive every day,” the male student said.

The secret to studying for this valedictorian is not to study too late at night and to wake up early every day to review. That is a quiet time, and he can concentrate fully on studying. He does not attend extra classes, and always seeks help from teachers whenever he encounters difficult lessons or problems he does not understand until they are clarified.

According to the male student, in this year's exam, the Math subject had many difficult questions, especially practical application questions that required high thinking. He had studied for the Hanoi University of Science and Technology's thinking assessment exam, so he was quite confident when doing these types of questions. "The practical problems that assess thinking are very good, solving problems in life makes me excited," Quyet said.

Born into a family of 3 children, being the first child, in addition to studying, Quyet often supports his mother in taking care of and tutoring his younger siblings with their studies. When he entered 12th grade, his study schedule was so busy with many assignments that he could only occasionally help his mother with housework. After finishing the exam, Quyet did not go out but spent all his time at home taking care of his younger siblings and supporting them with their studies. This summer, Quyet rewarded himself by playing games and sports to make up for the stress of the school year, when he had no time for entertainment.

In the future, Quyet plans to pursue Information Technology because he feels this is an interesting and exciting field, suitable for scientific and technological innovation, and will have many prospects.

No extra classes since childhood

Ms. Trinh Thi Thu Ha, the male student's mother, shared that this morning the whole family was very happy and excited when her son became valedictorian. The joy and surprise were too great for him and his family. Although he did well on the exam, he was still worried and anxious about whether he had filled in the wrong exam code or answer, so he never thought he would get perfect scores in all 3 subjects and become valedictorian.

I am even happier because I will receive a big reward from my Math teacher. Before the exam, knowing that I studied well, my teacher offered a reward: if I got 10 points, he would give me 10 million VND.

Self-studying mainly, a male student from Hanoi became the valedictorian of block A00 with 3 perfect scores of 10.

Ms. Ha also “boasted” that in the thinking assessment exam to enter Hanoi University of Science and Technology, her son scored 80.01 points. From childhood to adulthood, her son has been a good student and loved to study, never having to be reminded by his parents. During the 12 years of school, he has always achieved excellent results.

“Knowing that my child is a good student, my parents wanted me to take the medical exam or choose a major in economics this year, but I chose Information Technology. My family completely respects, supports and encourages me during my studies,” said Ms. Ha.

What is special, according to the boy's mother, is that her son has good self-study ability, so from elementary school to middle school, he did not have to take any extra classes. When he reached high school, he had to prepare for graduation exams, thinking assessment, and IELTS test preparation at the same time, so he registered for extra classes with teachers. To save time on commuting, he also bought online study packages. At home, he joined groups of students and teachers who shared exam preparation materials online to solve the questions himself.

Ms. Nguyen Dieu Huyen, homeroom teacher of class 12A9, Nguyen Gia Thieu High School, said that the class has 47 students and Quyet achieved the highest score. After knowing the results, the students shared their joy with the teacher and to her, these are "sweet fruits" to be very proud of. Up to this point, she has not been able to fully count the results of each student, but many students have good test scores.

As for Quyet, Ms. Huyen assessed him as an outstanding student, intelligent, hard-working, and capable of self-study. He also has a high determination in studying to achieve his set goals.
In class, he is good at all subjects, especially natural sciences. English is also excellent. As a natural sciences class monitor, he is always enthusiastic in supporting and explaining to his friends so that they can find ways to solve difficult problems.

As for Quyet, Ms. Huyen said, if he couldn't do a certain assignment, even after class, he would stay behind to finish it before going home. He would go to his teacher to ask for explanations. In addition to studying, this student also loves sports at school, especially badminton, and once won second place in the school-level boys' singles competition.

According to the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, after the results were released, there were 2 top students in block A00 who achieved perfect scores of 10 in all subjects. In addition, 1 candidate was the top student in both block A1 and D00 with scores of 29.75 and 29 points.
