The tournament is organized by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Bac Giang province in coordination with the Vietnam Chess Federation. This is the most important professional tournament for young athletes in the national chess competition system.

The tournament attracted 1,300 athletes from 53 delegations representing provinces, cities, and sectors nationwide. It is also one of the youth tournaments that attracts the most players in the national competition system.
The Lao Cai Provincial Sports Training and Competition Center sent a delegation of 21 young athletes in age groups U6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 13, and 15 to participate in the tournament, competing in four categories: rapid chess, blitz chess, traditional chess, and standard chess, in both individual and team events.

With great effort and determination, the chess players from Lao Cai won 12 medals of all kinds, including 1 Gold medal, 6 Silver medals, and 5 Bronze medals.
Individually, chess player Pham Nhu Y, competing in the U10 age group, won a Gold Medal in the individual standard chess event, a Silver Medal in the individual rapid chess event, and a Silver Medal in the individual blitz chess event. Nhu Y also won a Silver Medal in the team blitz chess event, a Silver Medal in the team standard chess event, and a Bronze Medal in the team rapid chess event with her U10 teammates.

The athletes from Lao Cai also won a Silver Medal in the U6 team blitz chess event and 5 Bronze Medals in various chess categories across different age groups.
This result shows that Lao Cai possesses a quality generation of young chess players. This is a foundation for Lao Cai chess to achieve high results at chess tournaments and national sports events in the future.
