In a letter to VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan, AFC President Salman Bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa expressed: "I am deeply saddened and shocked to receive the news of the tragic traffic accident involving the Quang Nam Youth football team, as they were returning after a match in the Vietnamese Second Division. The saddest thing is that player Vo Minh Hieu has passed away. I would like to extend my deepest condolences to the family, relatives, and friends of Vo Minh Hieu. I hope all those injured will make a full recovery soon."
The bus carrying the Quang Nam youth team overturned on Vi O Lac pass, one player died.
Vo Minh Hieu, born in 2002, was a player for the Quang Nam Youth Club competing in the 2023 National Second Division football league. While traveling from Kon Tum to Tam Ky, the bus carrying the Quang Nam Youth team was involved in an accident while descending the Vi O Lac pass (in Ba To district, Quang Ngai province), resulting in the death of Vo Minh Hieu. This is a great loss for the team and especially for the family of player Vo Minh Hieu.

This morning (June 26th), VFF General Secretary Duong Nghiep Khoi, representing the VFF, visited and offered condolences to the family of player Vo Minh Hieu and lit incense to bid farewell to him at his final resting place. On behalf of the VFF, General Secretary Duong Nghiep Khoi presented 50 million VND in support to the family of player Vo Minh Hieu, and also visited and provided financial assistance to the two injured players and fans currently receiving treatment at the hospital.
Earlier, VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan sent his deepest condolences to the entire team, especially the family of player Vo Minh Hieu, regarding the loss and tragedy caused by the traffic accident involving the Quang Nam Youth football team.
In his letter of condolence, VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan expressed: "On behalf of the VFF Executive Committee, I would like to extend my deepest sympathy and sincere condolences to the family of the player involved in the accident; I hope the family of the deceased player will soon overcome this painful time; and I hope the injured players and fans will recover quickly to return to football."
