On the evening of October 18, visiting the Embassy and meeting with representatives of the Vietnamese community in Laos, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man asked the Embassy to do better in community work in Laos, including continuing to strengthen coordination with Lao authorities to implement comprehensive measures to care for and support our compatriots, especially in remote and disadvantaged areas, so that our compatriots have a solid legal status, stabilize their lives, develop the economy , comply with the law and integrate smoothly into the locality.

At the meeting, representatives of the Vietnamese community in Laos raised a number of opinions and recommendations to the Party and State; at the same time, they affirmed that they are always united, comply with the laws of the host country, always turn towards their homeland and country, and make practical contributions to fostering the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.
Talk intimately with relatives, Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man expressed joy and emotion with the Vietnamese National Assembly Delegation to visit the Embassy, meet with officials, embassy staff and representatives of associations, people representing the Vietnamese community in Laos on the occasion of the official visit to Laos and attend AIPA General Assembly - 45.
The National Assembly Chairman stated that the delegation's visit to Laos this time aims to continue implementing the Party's foreign policy, proactively and actively consolidating and deepening political relations, promoting effective and substantive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos in all fields, on all channels of the Party, National Assembly, Government and people-to-people exchanges; strengthening trust with partner countries and traditional friends; building and consolidating personal relations between our senior leaders and senior leaders of Laos.
The National Assembly Chairman also informed the people about the socio-economic situation and activities of the National Assembly; emphasizing that the Party and State always recognize and appreciate the role of generations. Vietnamese in Laos .

The National Assembly Chairman highly appreciated associations such as the General Association of Vietnamese in Laos, Vietnamese associations in the provinces, and the Vietnamese Business Association in Laos for operating effectively, promoting the role of mass organizations, uniting and connecting the community, actively participating in local social activities and always responding to the policies of our Party and State, actively participating in activities towards the roots.
The National Assembly Chairman hopes that associations in Laos will continue to closely coordinate, gather the Vietnamese community in Laos, and continue to encourage them to make more efforts, with the spirit of "building Laos is building our own country", "helping friends is helping ourselves", as President Ho Chi Minh taught: “Unity, unity, great unity/ Success, success, great success” ; “Nothing is difficult/ Only fear that the heart is not steadfast/ Digging mountains and filling seas/ With determination, one can do it.”

The National Assembly Chairman hopes that the Vietnamese community in Laos will continue to make greater efforts and actively contribute to the economic development and construction of Laos; believe that the Vietnamese community in Laos will increasingly develop, unite, and turn towards the country; always preserve and promote the precious traditions of the nation, love, unite, and support each other; care for and educate their children to always turn towards their roots, preserve the Vietnamese cultural identity; continue to contribute and join hands for a united, strong, and developed community with prestige and position in the local society and contribute to fostering the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.
Regarding some of the concerns, aspirations and proposals of the people and the business community, the National Assembly Chairman affirmed that the Party and State always listen to the opinions, proposals and recommendations of the people, and have had and are having solutions to create more favorable conditions for the people and the business community to live and do business in Laos.
The leaders of the National Assembly and the Government will continue to discuss with leaders at all levels of your country, create a favorable legal framework, and remove difficulties for the implementation of cooperation projects between the two countries.
The National Assembly Chairman said that recently, our State has issued new policies, as well as amended and supplemented a number of policies to concretize the Party's guidelines on caring for overseas Vietnamese such as the Law on Identity Cards, the Land Law (amended)...
Accordingly, the 2023 Law on Identification clearly stipulates that all Vietnamese citizens are granted identification cards, regardless of whether they live in Vietnam or reside abroad.
In the 2024 Land Law (amended), overseas Vietnamese have had their land use rights expanded, and land policies for overseas Vietnamese who are Vietnamese citizens are the same as those for domestic individuals. This shows an innovation in the promulgation of policies and laws that pay attention to the overseas Vietnamese community.
The National Assembly Chairman also stated that the Party, State and National Assembly always pay attention, support and create the most favorable conditions for Vietnamese representative agencies abroad to operate effectively, contributing to protecting, building and developing the country.

Last April, the National Assembly Standing Committee agreed with the policy and content of amending and supplementing Decree 08/2019/ND-CP dated January 23, 2019, stipulating a number of regimes for members of Vietnamese agencies abroad to ensure better treatment for members of Vietnamese agencies abroad in accordance with the country's potential, position, and economic conditions in the new situation and specific characteristics of the foreign affairs sector.
On this occasion, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man presented 200 gifts to the Vietnamese community in Laos.
At the meeting, Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Minh Tam reported on the situation in Laos and the special importance of Vietnam-Laos relations.
The Ambassador stated that over the past years, under the direction of the Party and State leaders, the Embassy, with a high sense of responsibility, has strived to overcome all difficulties, wholeheartedly and wholeheartedly done a good job of advising the country, acting as a bridge and coordinating between the Party, State, National Assembly, Government agencies, ministries, branches, localities, and mass organizations to carry out specific tasks according to the agreement of the high-ranking leaders of the two Parties and two countries.
There are currently about 100,000 Vietnamese expatriates living, working and studying in Laos, of which nearly 40,000 live and work in the capital Vientiane.
Over the past time, the Embassy has always paid attention to supporting the Vietnamese community in Laos, helping overseas Vietnamese feel secure in doing business and living, contributing to the socio-economic development of Laos and always looking towards their homeland and country.
In addition, the Embassy also coordinates closely with relevant agencies to promote economic cooperation between Vietnam and Laos in a more practical and effective manner. Up to now, Vietnam is the third largest investor in Laos, with 255 valid investment projects in Laos with a total investment capital of 5.5 billion USD, mainly in the service sector (banking, telecommunications, hotels), agriculture, energy, mining, etc.
Vietnamese enterprises participating in investment cooperation in Laos have contributed to creating jobs, improving the lives of Lao people in the project area, contributing to the Lao State budget and social security in the area.
