VBF President Luu Tu Bao will be authorized to manage Vietnam Boxing

(NLDO) – The Standing Committee meeting of the Vietnam Boxing Federation (VBF) on the afternoon of September 4 discussed many issues of the sport, including the unusual absence of President Liu Xiu Bao.

Up to this point, there has been a lot of information circulating about the absence of VBF President Luu Tu Bao from Vietnam for more than half a year, not participating in the management of the activities of the Vietnam Boxing Federation (VBF), of course, with many different assumptions and hypotheses.

The official spokesperson of VBF, Mr. Nguyen Duy Hung, Vice President and General Secretary of VBF, affirmed: "Although Mr. Bao is in the US, he still contacts us about the management of domestic boxing activities, including the organization of tournaments such as the 2025 National Strong Teams Tournament in April in Dak Lak and the 2025 National Youth Championship in July in Ninh Binh."

At the request of the Vietnam Sports Department (under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism), on the afternoon of September 4, the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Boxing Federation held an extraordinary meeting to discuss the recent activities of the sport and especially the unusual absence of VBF President Luu Tu Bao.

The meeting focused on the main activities of boxing in 2025, mainly the organization of official annual tournaments. Recently, the Vietnam Boxing Federation has successfully organized two events, including the 2025 National Strong Team Boxing Tournament (April, Dak Lak) and the 2025 National Youth Boxing Championship (July, Ninh Binh ) entirely with socialized funding, not depending on the industry's budget.

The remaining important event in 2025 is the National Boxing Championship, which will take place in Ho Chi Minh City from October 2 to 12. The funding for the tournament will still come from socialized funds, mainly from sponsorship by the Saigon Sports Club (SSC) enterprise under the leadership of Mr. Luu Tu Bao, as agreed with the Vietnam Boxing Federation.

Surrounding the information about the months-long absence of VBF President Luu Tu Bao, which many people consider "lost contact", "lost connection", The Standing Committee of the Vietnam Boxing Federation has discussed and agreed on the following information: Since the end of February 2025, Mr. Liu Xiu Bao has gone to the US to attend a funeral for a relative and has to deal with some personal matters, so he is temporarily unable to return to Vietnam.

Unable to let multi-dimensional and complicated information affect the common activities, VBF will ask Mr. Luu Tu Bao to sign a power of attorney in accordance with the charter of the Vietnam Boxing Federation, assigning the right to manage the federation's activities to one of the federation's Vice Presidents from now until the end of March 2026.

The Executive Committee of the Vietnam Boxing Federation will issue an official press release on the incident after reporting specifically to the Vietnam Sports Department (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism), the Ministry of Home Affairs and relevant authorities. The Vietnam Boxing Federation commits and strives to operate all activities of Vietnam Boxing in accordance with the principles and purposes of a national sports management organization recognized and permitted to operate by the State.
