The Japan Times reported that Yoshihiro Hidaka, president of Japanese motorcycle manufacturer Yamaha Motor, was stabbed by his daughter at his home in Iwata City, Shizuoka Prefecture. The incident occurred around 3 a.m. Monday (Japan time). Fortunately, Mr. Hidaka only sustained minor injuries.
The Yamaha brand was founded on October 12, 1887.
Police in Shizuoka Prefecture have arrested Hana, 33, on suspicion of attempted murder. The woman is unemployed and lives with her father.
Hana is accused of intentionally killing her 61-year-old father by slashing his left arm with a kitchen knife.
Police quickly arrived at the house after receiving an emergency call from Hana. The woman said her father had been assaulted. It remains unclear whether Hana has admitted to the charges of attempted murder.
Earlier, at 5:30 PM on September 15th, Ms. Hana also called the police to report being assaulted by the Chairman of Yamaha Motor.
Conversely, according to the Tokyo Reporter, Yoshihiro stated that his daughter attacked him with a knife while he was asleep.
Yamaha Motor stated that it would not comment on the matter as it is a private issue and the investigation is ongoing.
Mr. Yoshihiro Hidaka has served as the CEO, President, and Representative Director of Yamaha Motor since 2018.
