We are not trying to boost our reputation.

When a reporter from Giao Thong Newspaper frankly asked, "Is the recent controversy surrounding allegations of vandalism and removal of road signs a publicity stunt?", the Chairman of Son Hai Group answered without hesitation.

We request specific guidance from the relevant authorities.

Regarding the incident where Son Hai Group filed a complaint with the police about the vandalism of road signs constructed by this contractor on the Nghi Son - Dien Chau expressway, public opinion continues to be divided. On social media, many opinions suggest: "Could this be a 'ploy' by the company to enhance its image and brand?"

When a reporter from Giao Thong Newspaper questioned him about the issue, Mr. Nguyen Viet Hai, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Son Hai Group Co., Ltd., affirmed: "This is not a way for businesses to polish their image."

"Previously, when the Nghi Son - Dien Chau expressway was completed, Son Hai Group reported to the Ministry of Transport about its commitment to a 10-year warranty for the scope of work assigned to the unit."

Upon receiving the document from the corporation, the Ministry assigned the matter to the investor for handling. We have also worked with the investor," Mr. Hai said, adding that the 10-year warranty information has been displayed on signs along the route for over a year now.

Essentially, we aim to uphold our reputation by fulfilling our commitment to the Ministry of Transport; at the same time, it serves as a form of transparency for public oversight.

According to the Chairman of Son Hai Group, when the Nghi Son - Dien Chau expressway was put into operation, the section constructed by Son Hai had experienced incidents of chemical spillage, affecting the structural quality of the project.

To increase vigilance, we intensified patrols along the route. The removal of the "10 years" inscription from the sign was detected by the company's monitoring department on October 26th and was recorded on video on October 29th.

Based on previous incidents, we initially thought it was sabotage and didn't believe the highway management authority had ordered it until we read the information in the Traffic Newspaper.

"If we put up signs that don't comply with current regulations, the management agencies need to issue a written request for action or guidance on appropriate adjustments. I affirm that before the 10-year warranty text was removed from the signs, the business had not received any notification from the authorities. If we had known that the removal of the text on the signs was carried out by the Road Management Area II, we would not have filed a complaint with the police," Mr. Hai stated.

Chủ tịch Sơn Hải nói về vụ lùm xùm biển báo:

The highway sign was designed and approved (left image), while the sign added by the construction contractor does not meet the required standards.

Remove the inappropriate advertising text.

Previously, in an interview with Giao Thong Newspaper, a representative from the Road Management Office II.1 (Road Management Area II - the state management agency for the expressway) affirmed that there was no vandalism of the road signs constructed by this contractor on the Nghi Son - Dien Chau expressway.

According to representatives of the management agency, the removal of the inscription "Son Hai Group provides a 10-year warranty" was carried out by the Vietnam Infrastructure Development and Financial Investment Corporation (Vidifi - the unit assigned to manage and maintain the facility regularly) following directives from the State Acceptance Council and the Vietnam Road Administration.

"Neither the project design documents approved by the competent authorities nor the completion documents for the signage item contain such content or design."

When the State Acceptance Council conducted an inspection in mid-2024, they requested Project Management Board 6 (representing the investor) to instruct the construction contractor to make repairs and corrections in accordance with the design documents, but the parties subsequently failed to comply.

From August 20th, the main road was officially handed over and put into use. The Road Management Area II also requested Project Management Board 6 to direct the contractor to repair and rectify the shortcomings of the road signs.

However, by the end of October, the Management Board and the contractor still had not rectified the issues, forcing the Area to request the regular maintenance management unit to immediately repair the signs that did not conform to the design specifications, and the signs with advertising text that did not meet the standards to ensure traffic safety," a representative of the management agency stated.
