International experts support doctors in the Mekong Delta with early cancer diagnosis techniques

Dozens of international experts have supported doctors in the Mekong Delta to practice the technique of 'Endoscopic ultrasound and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography' - an important technique in diagnosing and detecting cancer at an early stage.

On the afternoon of March 21, Can Tho Central General Hospital announced that at this hospital, the Asia Pacific Digestive Endoscopy Association and the Vietnam Digestive Endoscopy Association had just organized an international scientific conference and training course on "Endoscopic ultrasound and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography" for doctors in the Mekong Delta.

Experts are instructing endoscopic ultrasound to medical students from medical facilities in the Mekong Delta.

Accordingly, endoscopic ultrasound is a technique that combines ultrasound and endoscopy, a modern method, using an endoscope with an ultrasound probe to help diagnose and intervene in lesions of the digestive tract, bile, pancreas, mucosal and extramucosal lesions of the digestive tract. In particular, this technique is currently very important in diagnosing and detecting cancer at an early stage or detecting tumors deep in the abdomen with minimal invasiveness.

Students practiced on 15 patients with discussion and guidance from experts broadcast live from the procedure room.

The conference took place online with the participation of 10 lecturers, experts, endoscopists from Japan, Singapore, Thailand, experts from Cho Ray Hospital and 20 gastroenterologists and gastroenterologists from medical examination and treatment facilities in the Mekong Delta.

In addition to updating advanced technical information on endoscopic ultrasound of the digestive tract and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography, the students practiced demonstrations on 15 patients with discussions and instructions from experts broadcast live from the operating room. Of these, 11 patients underwent diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic ultrasound, submucosal tumor resection; 4 cases of endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography, all of which were successful.

The conference took place online with the participation of 10 lecturers, experts, endoscopists from Japan, Singapore, Thailand, and experts from Cho Ray Hospital.

From there, it helps students consolidate their knowledge and clinical experience in endoscopic ultrasound and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography as well as apply them in professional practice at medical examination and treatment facilities. This is also the most important goal of the conference to improve the quality of examination and treatment for people in the Mekong Delta.
