The story of the Head of the Front Committee in the Cham neighborhood.

Việt NamViệt Nam09/11/2023

The Cham neighborhood in Lac Thanh town, Tanh Linh district, has 360 households with over 1,560 inhabitants. Over the years, thanks to various policies and programs of the Party and the State, investments in infrastructure and preferential loans for family economic development have gradually improved the economic lives of the people here, and the number of poor households has decreased year by year. Contributing to this overall result is the hard work of Mr. Dong Son, the Head of the Cham Neighborhood Front Committee.

Mr. Dong Son shared: "I've been involved in social work since 1980, holding many different positions. When Lac Thanh was still a commune-level administrative unit, I served as Deputy Village Head and Head of the Village Front Committee. When Lac Thanh commune was upgraded to a town (in 1999), I served as Head of the neighborhood and currently am the Head of the Cham neighborhood Front Committee in Lac Thanh town. In every position, I have always strived to fulfill my assigned duties well."

Mr. Dong Son's experience shows that for movements and activities to develop, it is necessary to create consensus among the people, and Front Committee officials must be dynamic, responsible, and enthusiastic in their work, and their words must match their actions so that the people trust and follow them. Therefore, one must always be exemplary, leading the way, dynamic, and flexible in propaganda and mobilization work to encourage people to effectively implement the Party's guidelines, the State's policies and laws, and actively participate in local movements and activities. In particular, since the implementation of the "National Solidarity Campaign for Building New Rural Areas and Civilized Urban Areas" and the "Nationwide Campaign for the Poor," Mr. Son has personally visited each household to encourage them to register for the criteria of building culturally advanced families and residential areas, and poverty reduction targets. As a result, the people enthusiastically responded, raising their self-reliance and actively working to develop the economy and build culturally advanced families.

With a spirit of "giving a little love to the world," Mr. Son annually collaborates with the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the town to support poor families in difficult circumstances. He has mobilized units and individuals to provide hundreds of gifts to poor and disadvantaged households during holidays and Tet (Lunar New Year). In 2023, the Cham neighborhood aimed to lift 23 near-poor households out of a total of 63 near-poor households out of poverty by the end of the year. This is a difficult task requiring the support of the entire local political system, and Mr. Son himself has made great efforts to create favorable conditions for people to access loan sources, benefit from state programs, and encourage people to be self-reliant and strive to improve their lives. To date, after review, the poverty reduction target for 2023 in the Cham neighborhood has been basically achieved.

With his dedication and enthusiasm in poverty reduction, Mr. Dong Son is not only an extension of the local Party committee and government, but also a reliable support for the people of the Cham neighborhood. It is believed that, with his experience, enthusiasm, and efforts, Mr. Son will find even better ways to bring the Party and State's policies and guidelines closer to the people.
