Ho Chi Minh City: First consultation on the structure and number of candidates nominated for the 11th term People's Council

On December 8, the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City held the first consultation conference to agree on the structure, composition, and number of people of agencies, organizations, and units to be nominated as candidates for the 11th term of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council, 2026-2031 term.

The conference was chaired by comrades: Nguyen Phuoc Loc, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City; Truong Thi Bich Hanh, Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City; Bui Thanh Nhan, Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation; Vo Ngoc Thanh Truc, Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, Chairman of the Vietnam Women's Union of Ho Chi Minh City.

At the conference, Vice Chairman of the HCMC People's Council Nguyen Truong Nhat Phuong presented the expected allocation of the number and structure of delegates. Of which, the total number of elected HCMC People's Council delegates for the 2026 - 2031 term is 125 delegates.

To ensure compliance with the regulation that the total number of candidates recommended must be greater than the number of elected delegates, the Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council estimates the number of candidates recommended and allocated to be 220 people.

The planning of the structure, composition and allocation of the number of candidates to be nominated for election is carried out according to the principles of democracy, impartiality and transparency; focusing on the quality of personnel; ensuring representation between representatives of political organizations (Party agencies), specialized agencies of the HCMC People's Council, State management agencies; the Vietnam Fatherland Front of HCMC and socio-political organizations, armed forces, judicial agencies, wards - communes - special zones, public service units, enterprises, associations, unions, intellectuals, experts, scientists, press, artists, religions and self-nomination.

At the conference, delegates discussed frankly and made proposals related to the structure, composition, and number of delegates suitable to the situation in Ho Chi Minh City.

Delegates voted to approve the number of people nominated to run for the 11th term People's Council for the 2026-2031 term in Ho Chi Minh City as 220 people; ensuring the re-election structure, female deputies, young deputies, deputies who are not party members, self-nominated candidates... according to regulations.
