On the evening of November 8, a representative of the Traffic Police Department ( Ministry of Public Security ) provided detailed information about the traffic accident between an ambulance and a traffic police car on the Trung Luong - My Thuan expressway.
Accordingly, on the same morning, the Traffic Police Team of Team 7, Road and Railway Traffic Control Patrol Department (Traffic Police Department) used a car with license plate 80A-042.XX driven by Major Nguyen Ngoc Chau, to patrol on the Trung Luong - My Thuan Expressway.
At Km76+400 (in Phu Nhuan commune, Cai Lay, Tien Giang ), the CGST team discovered a damaged car with license plate 60K-246.XX parked in lane 2 of the highway, at risk of causing a traffic collision with other vehicles on the route. The traffic police team stopped the car to check and provided warning support to the car.
During the process of stopping the patrol car, the traffic police team turned on the priority lights (revolving lights) and arranged for 1 traffic police officer to direct traffic.
While on duty, the traffic police team's car was hit in the back by an ambulance with license plate 65A-183.XX driven by driver NVH (26 years old, residing in Soc Trang ).
The strong collision caused minor injuries to one person in the ambulance; two vehicles, the patrol car and the ambulance, were damaged.
The initial cause was determined to be the ambulance driver falling asleep and not paying attention.
Through a quick test with the ambulance driver, the results detected no alcohol or drug concentrations.
Currently, the case is being investigated and handled by Team 7 in coordination with the Investigation Police Agency of Cai Lay District Police (Tien Giang) according to regulations.
