(CT) - In April 2025, the Tax sector developed and implemented a full-process automatic personal income tax (PIT) refund for taxpayers based on the available data of the tax authority. According to the Tax Department, as of June 2, 2025, the system had received more than 787,000 PIT finalization declarations with tax refund requests, of which 75% were from suggested declarations. The system created refund request files for over 782,000 cases, identifying 342,870 files eligible for automatic refund with a total amount of VND 1,579 billion. The tax authority issued 265,939 refund orders and transferred the Treasury to pay refunds of VND 1,218 billion.

The implementation of automatic personal income tax refund aims to create the most favorable conditions and create convenient utilities for taxpayers in the tax refund process. At the same time, it contributes significantly to freeing up resources for tax authorities in reviewing taxpayers' tax refund dossiers. To effectively implement automatic personal income tax refund, the Tax Department has assigned the responsibility of directly directing the settlement of personal income tax refund dossiers to each tax branch and tax team leader. Tax authorities coordinate with the State Treasury in the area to arrange resources to promptly process refunds for taxpayers and receive feedback from the State Treasury to promptly handle arising problems (if any)...
