107-year-old man withdraws pension savings to support northern compatriots

On September 17, Ms. Le Thi Vinh, Secretary of the Party Cell of Cu Da village, Hoang Duc commune, Hoang Hoa district ( Thanh Hoa ) said that in recent days, the locality has launched a call for and mobilized people to donate and support flood victims in the northern provinces to overcome the consequences of natural disasters.

Among the supporters in Cu Da village, there is a very special case, that is Mr. Le Trong Huong (107 years old).

According to Mrs. Vinh, Mr. Huong has been a Party member for 75 years. When he heard that the locality launched a fundraising campaign to support flood victims in the North, he decided to donate 3 million VND from his pension savings.

"His actions moved many people. He is an exemplary party member. His kindness is truly admirable, for everyone to learn and follow," said Ms. Vinh.

Ms. Vinh also said that in addition to Mr. Huong, in the recent fundraising campaign, there was also an 8-year-old child in the locality who broke his piggy bank and donated 300,000 VND. Up to now, the whole Cu Da village has raised more than 23.6 million VND.
