On the morning of June 8th, in Hanoi, the Political Department of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army (VPA) held a ceremony to receive the Third-Class Order of National Defense and commemorate the 75th anniversary of its founding (June 8, 1948 / June 8, 2023).
Attending the ceremony were General Pham Van Tra, former member of the Politburo, former Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Party Committee (now the Central Military Commission), former Minister of National Defense ; General Do Ba Ty, former member of the Central Committee of the Party, former Vice Chairman of the National Assembly; and other members of the Central Committee of the Party and Deputy Ministers of National Defense: Lieutenant General Vu Hai San and Lieutenant General Pham Hoai Nam.

Attending the ceremony were the Deputy Chiefs of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army: Senior General Huynh Chien Thang, Member of the Central Committee of the Party; Senior General Phung Si Tan, Secretary of the Party Committee of the General Staff - Ministry of National Defense; and Lieutenant General Le Quang Minh, Deputy Head of the General Political Department of the Vietnam People's Army, along with former leaders of the Ministry of National Defense and the General Staff from various periods...
On June 8, 1948, in Diem Mac commune, Dinh Hoa district, Thai Nguyen province, the Political Affairs Department of the General Staff, the predecessor of the Political Department of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, was established. Throughout the revolutionary periods, and despite numerous changes in organization and operational mechanisms, generations of cadres, staff, and soldiers of the Political Department of the General Staff have remained absolutely loyal to the revolutionary cause of the Party, upholding the spirit of initiative, creativity, unity, discipline, overcoming difficulties, and successfully completing all tasks. The Political Department has assisted the Party Committee of the General Staff - Ministry of National Defense and the head of the General Staff in leading and directing Party and political work in the strategic staff agency, achieving good results and making a significant contribution to building a strong strategic staff agency and successfully completing all tasks.

Speaking at the ceremony, Senior General Phung Si Tan praised and congratulated the Political Department of the General Staff on its outstanding achievements and results over the past 75 years. He also requested that the Political Department of the General Staff focus on thoroughly understanding and effectively implementing resolutions and directives from higher levels; firmly grasp the situation; prioritize political and ideological education; and ensure that all cadres, Party members, staff, and soldiers throughout the agency deeply understand the situation and tasks, have absolute confidence in the Party's guidelines and policies, and the State's laws and regulations, uphold responsibility, and strive to excellently fulfill all assigned tasks.

Along with proactively advising and proposing many effective solutions for the Party Committee of the General Staff - Ministry of National Defense to lead and direct the enhancement of comprehensive leadership capacity and combat strength of party organizations within the agency, the Political Department needs to organize well the "Gratitude and Repayment" activities, mass mobilization work, and care for policy beneficiaries and families with particularly difficult circumstances; contributing to maintaining and strengthening the solidarity and close relationship with local party committees, governments, organizations, and people in the areas where it is stationed. Focus on building internal unity and cohesion, promoting democracy, upholding responsibility, proactively overcoming difficulties, and building a clean and strong Party Committee of the Political Department, and a comprehensively strong Political Department that is "exemplary and outstanding"...
On this occasion, authorized by the President of Vietnam, Lieutenant General Phung Si Tan presented the Third Class Order of National Defense to the Political Department of the General Staff.
