
Previously, at 7:30 a.m. the same day, the patient suddenly fell, had weakness in the left arm and leg, and a crooked mouth. He was taken to the Emergency Department of the Con Dao Military Medical Center.
Immediately, the patient was ordered by doctors to have a CT scan of the brain and the scan results were urgently sent via the PACS system (digital medical image archiving and transmission system) to People's Hospital 115 for consultation with cerebrovascular disease specialists.
After consultation, the doctors diagnosed the patient with a right hemisphere cerebral infarction in the first hour, and indicated emergency intravenous thrombolysis. Following the consultation of the experts, Dr. Huynh Minh Triet (People's Hospital 115) and Dr. Nguyen Thi Thanh Truc (Binh Dan Hospital) treated the patient with thrombolytic drugs.
After the drug infusion, the patient improved almost completely, with only mild paralysis on the left side.
According to Associate Professor, Doctor, Doctor Tang Chi Thuong, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, this is the first case of intravenous thrombolysis intervention for a patient with acute cerebral infarction at the Con Dao Military-Civilian Medical Center, dramatically improving the patient's symptoms.
Thereby, affirming the outstanding effectiveness of applying the remote consultation system and the close and timely professional coordination between experts of People's Hospital 115, along with specialized doctors working in rotation here, helping patients on remote islands to access treatment during the "golden hour" successfully.
