DNVN - On December 19th, Citilink Indonesia flight QG870 from Jakarta International Airport brought 170 Indonesian tourists to Da Nang City.
Upon arriving in Da Nang, tourists were welcomed by representatives from the City's Department of Tourism , Da Nang International Airport, Da Nang International Terminal Operations Joint Stock Company, and representatives from the alliance of Indonesian and Da Nang travel companies, who presented them with local specialties and brochures introducing the destination.
Welcome to Indonesian tourists aboard flight QG870 from Jakarta, landing at Da Nang airport.
According to the Da Nang Tourism Promotion Center, this Jakarta (Indonesia) – Da Nang route will be operated as a charter flight, with an A320 aircraft leased from Citilink Indonesia by a consortium of Indonesian and Da Nang travel companies for a trial period from December 2024 to January 2025, with 7 flights.
These trial flights are expected to bring more than 1,200 Indonesian tourists to experience Da Nang. If the results are positive, the Jakarta-Da Nang route will be upgraded to a regular flight in 2025.
According to Nguyen Thi Hoai An, Deputy Director of the Da Nang Department of Tourism, Indonesia is a potential market for Da Nang tourism. Recently, the city's tourism industry has actively implemented promotional activities in this market, organizing two meetings with travel agencies and airlines, and welcoming two Famtrip delegations of 70 Indonesian travel businesses to survey tourism in Da Nang. The opening of this flight route will create opportunities to connect Da Nang with the Indonesian market of 280 million people.
According to Nguyen Minh Xoang, General Director of HAVA Travel, Da Nang is a very new destination for Indonesians and currently has no direct flights. Initially, HAVA Travel, together with Indonesian travel agencies, is operating charter flights to gradually assess the market potential and strengthen connections between Da Nang and Indonesian tourists. This will be the foundation for promoting the opening of regular flights in the future.
Indonesia is among the Southeast Asian regional markets that Da Nang's tourism industry has been actively promoting in recent times. Notable achievements include participation in the ITB ASIA trade fair (Singapore); organizing promotional programs in Malaysia, the Philippines, and Indonesia; attracting three new airlines: Malaysia Airlines, Royal Air Philippines, and Citilink Indonesia; and welcoming famtrip, presstrip, and KOL (Key Opinion Leader) delegations from Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Indonesia to experience Da Nang tourism and support its promotion efforts.
In the first 11 months of 2024, Da Nang welcomed over 38,000 Indonesian tourists, nearly 1.5 times more than the total for 2023. Along with the emerging Indonesian market, other Southeast Asian markets including Singapore, the Philippines, and Malaysia are also showing positive growth signs in 2024.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoai An stated that, with a focus on market diversification, Da Nang's tourism industry has been strengthening promotional activities targeting new markets such as Indonesia, encouraging businesses to invest in and upgrade products that are friendly to Muslim tourists, such as prayer rooms, accommodation facilities, and restaurants that meet Halal service standards. Simultaneously, the Department of Tourism organizes seminars to share experiences in serving and preparing food and beverage products and services for the Muslim market.
