The World Memory Championship was founded by British Professor Tony Buzan in 1991.

This year, the competition took place over three days, November 24th, 25th, and 26th, 2023, at the Cidco Exhibition Centre (Mumbai, India), attracting 779 contestants from 13 countries, including many seasoned masters from teams such as Germany, Denmark, Mongolia, India, and Japan…

Among them, notable figures include Dr. Johannes Mallow - a German national team player with 2 world championships, 9 German championships, and 7 world memory records, and Simon Reinhard (also from the German national team) who has won the world championship twice.

The contestants were divided into four age groups: under 12, 13-18, 19-60, and over 60.

Contestants must complete 10 challenges such as memorizing random words, names and faces, numbers, images, etc. Representing Vietnam this year are sisters Dang Thu Hien and Dang Ngoc Phuong Trinh. Both have been part of the Vietnamese Memory Team for four years and previously participated in the 2019 Asian Memory Championship (held in Malaysia) and the 2019 World Memory Championship (held in China).

Dang Ngoc Phuong Trinh helped the Vietnamese team win 4th place at the Asia- Pacific Memory Championship and entered the Top 10 of the 2019 World Memory Championship.

Dang Ngoc Phuong Trinh and her older sister Dang Thu Hien (25 years old) are a pair of sisters dubbed "Vietnam's memory superstars" for overcoming nearly 100 competitors to win first and second place in the first Vietnam Memory Championship (2009).

In this competition, Dang Ngoc Phuong Trinh consecutively set 5 records out of 10 categories: the person who listened to and memorized the most numbers, the person who memorized the most random numbers correctly, the person who memorized the most binary numbers correctly, the person who memorized the most names and faces correctly, and the person who memorized the most historical events. Prior to this, Phuong Trinh won all the monthly rounds (from June to September 2019).
