The historic storms and floods in early September left devastating consequences for Lao Cai province. In particular, landslides wiped out many houses, leaving them at risk of collapse at any moment. To rebuild and ensure stable lives for the people, with the motto of "settling down and making a living," Lao Cai province and its sponsoring organizations quickly surveyed and allocated land for resettlement areas. Accordingly, the new resettlement areas are spacious, equipped with public facilities, and ensure safety against natural disasters. Lao Cai province simultaneously commenced construction on three resettlement areas: Lang Nu village (Bao Yen district) and Kho Vang and Nam Tong villages (Bac Ha district). After nearly three months, the construction units have made strenuous efforts to overcome all difficulties and accelerate progress. It is expected that the resettlement areas will be completed and handed over to the people before December 31st, allowing them to settle down and prepare for the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Snake 2025.

In Lang Nu village (Phuc Khanh commune, Bao Yen district), more than 300 officers and workers from the 12th Army Corps are currently working in three shifts to complete the main construction items before December 22nd. 40 houses have had their roofs and doors installed and are entering the final stages of completion. Along with that, auxiliary items, community centers, and schools are also progressing rapidly towards completion. Mr. Hoang Quoc Bao, Secretary of the Bao Yen District Party Committee, said that the district is always closely coordinating with the construction unit, resolving difficulties, and accelerating progress to complete the 40 houses for the people of Lang Nu village. According to Mr. Bao, the district is seeking approval from higher authorities to set a date for the inauguration and handover of the resettlement area. At the same time, the district has also directed the local authorities and residents to plant trees and vegetable gardens to create a green, clean, and beautiful landscape before the residents move into their new homes. In Bac Ha district, two resettlement areas in Kho Vang village (Coc Lau commune) and Nam Tong village (Nam Luc commune) are also entering their final stages of completion. Specifically, the Kho Vang resettlement area covers approximately 3.5 hectares and will accommodate 35 households. The Nam Tong resettlement area covers 8.5 hectares and will initially build 15 houses for 15 households in Ban Cai hamlet.

According to Mr. Thanh, the Bac Ha District People's Committee has directed the People's Committees of Coc Lau and Nam Luc communes to organize a lottery for housing locations for the residents. The lottery process was conducted openly and transparently and received the consensus and support of the people.

After December 10th, when the construction unit hands over the land for the new houses to the households, the commune will organize for the residents to clean their houses, create vegetable gardens, and plant trees to help them stabilize their lives as soon as possible.
