The use of solar energy is increasingly demonstrating many advantages and benefits, reducing living and production costs; it is a clean, safe, and environmentally friendly energy source.

The demand for green energy sources is increasing.

Faced with hot weather and rising electricity prices, Mr. Nguyen Van Trong's family in Tran Phu ward ( Ha Tinh province ) decided to install a rooftop solar power system. This solution provides his family with a stable and safe power source, significantly reducing their long-term costs.

He said: “The total installation cost was 200 million VND, with a capacity of 12 kWh and a storage system. We only had to pay the initial installation cost, but we now have more control over our electricity usage. With the solar power system, my family only spends 3 million VND per month on grid electricity, a reduction of about 70% compared to before.”

More and more people are in need of installing solar power systems.

The demand for self-sufficient solar power installations is increasing in Ha Tinh, not only in urban areas but also in rural areas.

Mr. Ha Van Thanh from Ky Hoa commune said: “I installed a battery-powered system, meaning my family can use electricity not only during the day but also at night. With a battery capacity of 9kw/h, my family can use electricity quite comfortably, saving costs and reducing emissions to protect the environment.”

Thanks to solar power, Mr. Ha Van Thanh's family in Ky Hoa commune enjoys a comfortable electricity usage experience, saving on costs and reducing emissions to protect the environment.

At Phu Khuong Seafood Purchasing and Processing Cooperative (Ky Xuan commune), the solar power system has become a sustainable, efficient, and cost-effective production solution. Ms. Le Thi Khuong, Director of the Cooperative, stated: “Since 2017, we have invested in building fish sauce tanks using solar panels, with automatic stirring via a closed-loop system and solar heating. After 8 years, this solution remains optimal in production, reducing the fish fermentation time to 6 months, minimizing labor, and cutting production costs by 50%.”

After 8 years, using solar power remains the optimal solution for improving product quality, reducing costs, and expanding the market for Phu Khuong Seafood Purchasing and Processing Cooperative (Ky Xuan commune).

According to residents and businesses, the use of solar power is increasingly demonstrating many advantages and benefits, reducing living and production costs; it is a clean, safe, and environmentally friendly energy source. In particular, the use of green energy is also a trend and a competitive factor in the market. Furthermore, the increasingly reasonable investment costs for solar power and modern technology encourage residents and businesses to invest more confidently.

Mr. Truong Dinh Quy – Director of Kim Quy Energy Co., Ltd. (Tran Phu Ward) said: “Currently, the company is managing, operating, and maintaining more than 30 rooftop solar power projects (30 MWp capacity) in the area. Compared to previous years, technology has been increasingly improved, and installation costs have decreased by about 50%, attracting more customer interest. For household use, people only need to spend about 70 million VND (10 KhW capacity) to own a rooftop solar power system.”

Striving towards the goal of greening energy.

In Ha Tinh, in addition to the two major investment projects, there are more than 500 organizations and individuals who have installed rooftop solar power systems with a total capacity of over 150 MWp, contributing more than 200 million kWh of electricity to the grid each year.

At the Conference of Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP26), Vietnam committed to reducing CO2 emissions to zero by 2050. To achieve this goal, the Politburo issued Resolution No. 55-NQ/TW on the strategic orientation for the development of Vietnam's national energy sector until 2030, with a vision to 2045; the Prime Minister approved the Power Development Plan VIII, setting the target of having 50% of public buildings and 50% of residential houses using self-generated, self-consumed rooftop solar power by 2030.

Currently, Ha Tinh has attracted investment in two grid-connected solar power projects: the Cam Hoa solar power plant with a capacity of 50MWp; and the Cam Hung solar power plant with a capacity of 29MWp. In addition, more than 500 organizations and individuals in the locality have installed rooftop solar power systems with a total capacity of over 150MWp, contributing more than 200 million kWh of electricity to the grid annually.

In addition to supplementing the local electricity supply and contributing to saving electricity costs for people and businesses, solar power is also very important in preventing overload during peak hours, contributing to ensuring national energy security.

Solar power has helped the electricity sector in Ha Tinh province combat overload during the peak hot season.

Mr. Phan Van Anh – Head of Business Department (Ha Tinh Power Company) said: “Solar energy is a renewable, clean energy source that can reduce dependence on traditional electricity. While the demand for electricity from people and businesses is increasing, developing solar power is an investment and usage option that is economical and efficient; it plays an important role in ensuring energy security and contributing to socio -economic development. In the past, Ha Tinh Power Company has always accompanied people and businesses in the process of transitioning to renewable energy; advising and supporting the connection of rooftop solar power systems to the grid, ensuring safety and compliance with technical standards.”

With its coastal location and abundant sunshine resources, Ha Tinh has great potential and advantages for developing renewable energy sources in general and solar energy in particular. Furthermore, its reliable energy infrastructure and rapidly developing industrial zones and clusters with high electricity consumption create favorable conditions for the development of self-sufficient rooftop solar power.

According to the plan for implementing the Power Development Plan VIII, Ha Tinh province is planned to add nearly 400MW of rooftop solar power and 1,800MW of concentrated solar power.

Mr. Duong Thanh Hoa, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, stated: “Through monitoring, solar power projects have been operating quite effectively, especially for manufacturing businesses and government offices. To achieve the goal of having 50% of government buildings and 50% of residential houses using self-generated rooftop solar power by 2030, as outlined in the Power Development Plan VIII, the Department will advise the Provincial People's Committee to submit to the Provincial People's Council a policy to support the installation of self-generated solar power to encourage investment from individuals and businesses. This will also help Ha Tinh transition to a green, clean, and efficient energy direction.”

According to the head of the Department of Industry and Trade, during the investment process, organizations and individuals need to comply with regulations related to planning, construction, land, environmental protection, safety, and fire prevention and control; including registering for a certificate of registration for the development of rooftop solar power for self-production and self-consumption in accordance with the law.
