From October 16-20, Comrade Tran Tuan Anh, Member of the Political Bureau and Head of the Central Economic Committee, led a high-level delegation of the Party on a visit and working trip to Australia.
The delegation included comrades Nguyen Van Duoc, Secretary of the Long An Provincial Party Committee; Vu Dai Thang, Secretary of the Quang Binh Provincial Party Committee; Nguyen Hong Son, Deputy Head of the Central Economic Committee; Tran Van Hiep, Chairman of the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee; Tran Van Tuan, Chairman of the Yen Bai Provincial People's Committee; Le Cong Thanh, Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment; and Le Anh Tuan, Deputy Minister of Transport.
During their time in Australia, the delegation met and held discussions with Co-Secretary for Foreign Affairs Tim Watts; Minister for Trade and Tourism Don Farrell; Minister for Industry, Science and Resources Ed Husic; Co-Secretary for Climate Change and Energy Jenny McAllister; Chair of the House of Representatives Committee on Climate Change, Energy, Environment and Water Tony Zappia; Premier of New South Wales Chris Minns; Australian Government Special Envoy for Southeast Asia Economic Strategy Nicolas Moore; and Minister for Science, Technology, Standards and Fair Trade of New South Wales Anoulack Chanthivong.
Head of the Central Economic Committee Tran Tuan Anh and his delegation also visited and spoke with officials at the Vietnamese Embassy in Australia and the Vietnamese Consulate General in Sydney; visited and worked with Macquarie Group; and attended and spoke at a roundtable conference on attracting foreign direct investment.
During the discussions, Head of the Central Economic Committee Tran Tuan Anh, along with the Premier of New South Wales and Australian ministers, shared the view that the Vietnam-Australia Strategic Partnership is currently developing very well, with political trust strengthened through high-level and other visits.
Bilateral cooperation activities in the fields of economics, trade, investment, defense, security, education and training, and health, as well as between localities and ministries of the two countries, have continuously developed in depth, substance, and comprehensiveness, bringing benefits to the people and businesses of both countries.
Both sides also highly appreciated the important contributions of the Vietnamese community in Australia, expressing pleasure that the two countries are moving towards building a new framework for relations and becoming leading economic partners of each other.

Thanking the Australian authorities for their warm welcome, Comrade Tran Tuan Anh provided information on Vietnam's development guidelines, policies, and goals, and affirmed that the Communist Party and Government of Vietnam attach great importance to the strategic partnership with Australia.
Considering the great potential for cooperation between the two countries, Comrade Tran Tuan Anh emphasized that in the context of significant changes in the region and the world today, the two countries have many similarities, sharing visions and goals, and although there are differences in development levels, they complement each other.
Therefore, the ministries, sectors, and localities of the two countries need to exchange and agree on directions and measures to further promote cooperative relations to enhance bilateral trade and investment, promote cooperation in training and human resource development associated with innovation, strengthen tourism cooperation, open more direct flights connecting the two countries, and at the same time deepen cooperation in new and important fields such as digital transformation, energy transition, climate change response, sustainable development, supply chain building, and effectively implement new generation free trade agreements to which both countries are members, in order to be commensurate with the potential and good political relations between the two countries.

The Premier of New South Wales and Australian ministers warmly welcomed Mr. Tran Tuan Anh, stating that his visit to Australia was of great significance, being the visit of the highest-ranking leader of the Communist Party of Vietnam in 2023, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
The Australian Ministers agreed on the cooperation directions outlined by Mr. Tran Tuan Anh, especially in areas where both sides have needs and Australia has strengths; emphasized that the Australian Government values Vietnam's role in Australia's foreign policy and economic strategy with Southeast Asia until 2040; highly appreciated the guidelines, policies, and development goals of the Communist Party of Vietnam; and expressed their desire to further promote the Vietnam-Australia Strategic Partnership to develop more strongly and effectively in the future.
