
Writer Camille Laurens, born in 1957, is one of the most prominent contemporary French novelists. Her works have been translated into more than 30 languages, always focusing on the relationship between literature and truth, especially through the genre of "autofiction".
Camille Laurens has received many prestigious awards such as Famina, Renaudot des lycéens, Roman-News and Grand prix RTL-Lire.
In parallel with her writing, she is deeply involved in French literary life as a member of the Jury of the Femina Prize (2007-2019) and a member of the Goncourt Academy since February 11, 2020.

Vietnamese readers know Camille Laurens through her works In Arms (2009), Emotional Love Song (2011), Daughter (2023) and most recently, Betrayal .
In particular, on the occasion of the launch of the novel Betrayal , from October 18 to 25, writer Camille Laurens came to Vietnam to meet and talk with readers in Hanoi , Hue, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City.

At the program, writer Bich Ngan, President of the Ho Chi Minh City Writers Association, said that due to historical factors, French literature came to Vietnamese readers very early. Many generations of writers and readers who love literature in Vietnam have received it with passion. In particular, many works have had a great impact on many generations of writers in Vietnam.

According to Camille Laurens, becoming a writer and doing the work you love in your own freedom is a meaningful journey.
From a young age, she had to overcome many barriers and social prejudices to do the job she loved since childhood, which is to freely create.

“It was the result of encounters in life, the first of which was with books. It was books that helped me broaden my perspective and have a sense of freedom. In addition, encounters with important people who had strong voices on feminism were also factors that made me pick up the pen and write a lot about women,” writer Camille Laurens shared.
