According to data from the General Statistics Office, in the first eight months of the year, Vietnam received nearly 14 million international visitors, an increase of nearly 22% compared to the same period last year. In August alone, more than 1.68 million visitors entered Vietnam, an 8% increase compared to July and the highest number for August in previous years.

Despite still being in the low season for international tourism , the positive growth results in July and August have shown promising signs for the inbound tourism market. Growth was driven by Europe (up 33.2%), Asia (up 21.3%), Australia (up 14%), the Americas (up 9.1%), and Africa (up 4.7%).
Major markets recorded high growth rates, including China (+44.3%), Japan (+17.1%), India (+42.2%), and Cambodia (+50.7%). Notably, the Russian market continued its rapid growth (+164.9%). The outstanding development of the Russian tourist market is attributed to the tourism promotion and marketing programs in Russia implemented by the Vietnam National Tourism Administration, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, localities, and businesses in recent times.
Southeast Asian markets performed well: Philippines (+93.4%), Cambodia (+50.7%), Laos (+33.1%), Indonesia (+13.1%), Malaysia (+9.8%), Singapore (+9.4%), Thailand (+8.1%).

Not only did the tourism industry see a surge in visitors in August, but it also recorded a significant increase nationwide during the recent September 2nd holiday. According to information from the Vietnam National Tourism Administration, during the four-day holiday (August 30th - September 2nd), the tourism industry nationwide is estimated to have served approximately 5.5 million tourists, an increase of 83.3% compared to the same period in 2024.
The strong growth in both international and domestic tourists since the beginning of the year has helped Vietnam's tourism industry generate 707,000 billion VND in revenue. At the regular government meeting in August, held on the morning of September 6th and chaired by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, tourism continued to be recognized as one of the nine bright spots in the socio -economic sector with impressive growth.
