Attending SEA Games 2025: Vietnam Sports Delegation "set out with the highest determination"

(Chinhphu.vn) - The farewell ceremony for the Vietnamese Sports Delegation participating in the 33rd SEA Games in 2025 took place in a solemn and warm atmosphere this morning, December 7, at Noi Bai Airport (Hanoi).

Vietnam Sports Delegation officially set off for SEA Games 33.

The Vietnamese Sports Delegation attending the 33rd SEA Games has a total of 1,165 members.

The ceremony was attended by Director of the Department of Physical Training and Sports Dang Ha Viet, leaders of the General Department of Physical Training and Sports and representatives of Vietnam Airlines Corporation - a long-time companion of Vietnamese Sports.

Head of the delegation Nguyen Hong Minh - Deputy Director of the Department of Sports and Physical Training sent sincere thanks to Vietnam Airlines for their thoughtfulness and warm feelings for the delegation. He shared: "The Vietnamese Sports Delegation participating in the 33rd SEA Games has a total of 1,165 members, including 842 athletes, 189 coaches and 19 experts. We will compete in 47/66 sports with 443/573 events. The whole delegation set off with the highest determination, carrying the will, the fire in their hearts and the Vietnamese spirit to overcome their own limits, successfully completing the tasks assigned by the leaders of the Party, State and people".

This morning, from the 3 regions of Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City - Da Nang, a total of 113 members officially departed, bringing the number of teams in Thailand to 16. The flight on the morning of December 7 had 81 members from the Cycling, Canoeing, Swimming, Jet Ski, Sepak Takraw, Gymnastics teams...

On the technical side, the athletes all showed determination. Rower Nguyen Thi Huong said canoeing was not included in the previous SEA Games, so at this event, she and her teammates set the highest goal to assert their position.

Doctor Nguyen Van Trien (Vietnam Sports Hospital), who has accompanied the Vietnamese Sports Delegation 7 times, said: "Every time I go to the airport to see the delegation off, my colleagues and I are very emotional. We will do our best to take care of the health and help the athletes compete at their best."

Tomorrow (December 8), sports delegations including Vietnam will attend the flag-raising ceremony in Bangkok. The opening ceremony of the 33rd SEA Games will take place on December 9 at Rajamangala Stadium. Volleyball player Le Thanh Thuy and karate fighter Le Minh Thuan were assigned to carry the flag for the Vietnamese sports delegation during the parade in the opening ceremony.
