After being abandoned for nearly 6 years, the prime land of the former hospital was auctioned off for 566 billion VND.

(Dan Tri Newspaper) - The prime real estate where the former Dak Lak Provincial General Hospital once stood was put up for auction four years ago but failed to find a buyer. Now, the building is being put up for auction again with a starting price of 566 billion VND.

On December 24th, Mr. Le Danh Thang, Deputy Director of the Dak Lak Department of Finance, stated that the unit is currently auctioning off assets on the land and transferring land use rights at 2 Mai Hac De Street (Tan Thanh Ward, Buon Ma Thuot City).

This is the former headquarters of the Dak Lak Provincial General Hospital, covering an area of ​​over 42,600 square meters, located in the heart of Buon Ma Thuot city.

The Dak Lak Provincial Asset Auction Service Center has announced the auction of this "prime land" with a starting price of over 566 billion VND for investment in a Commercial Center - Hotel - Residential Complex project. This includes over 513 billion VND for the land use rights and over 53 billion VND for the assets attached to the land (the hospital buildings).

The auction will be held on January 13, 2025.

According to the Deputy Director of the Dak Lak Department of Finance, in 2020, the former headquarters of the Dak Lak Provincial General Hospital was announced for auction with a starting bid of over 533 billion VND (including over 460 billion VND for land use rights and over 72 billion VND for assets attached to the land). However, no investors participated in the auction at that time.

To protect the remaining assets inside, for many years, the Dak Lak Department of Finance has had to contract with a security company to protect the remaining assets, waiting until this plot of land is successfully sold.

Mr. Le Danh Thang stated that, after four years, the value of assets on the land of the former Dak Lak Provincial General Hospital headquarters had decreased due to depreciation over time, but the value of land use rights had increased, leading to a starting auction price higher than 33 billion VND.

According to Mr. Thang, the 1/500 scale planning for the former Dak Lak Provincial General Hospital area will implement a Commercial Center - Hotel - Housing Complex project. This includes approximately 5,000 square meters for social housing and about 1.2 hectares of land designated for infrastructure (where the investor will build roads, electricity, green spaces, etc.) which will not be subject to auction.

Regarding the reasons why it has been difficult to sell "prime land" for many years, the deputy director of the Dak Lak Department of Finance acknowledged that, due to the high value of assets on the land, investors are hesitant to spend tens of billions of dong to buy them, and then have to demolish them themselves when implementing the project, with demolition costs also being considerable. However, according to regulations, the assets on the land must still be sold.

Earlier, in early 2019, Dak Lak Provincial General Hospital officially relocated to its new headquarters in Tu An Ward (Buon Ma Thuot City), approximately 5km from its old location. At that time, the hospital was renamed the Central Highlands Regional General Hospital.

Since then, the old hospital has been abandoned, overgrown with weeds, and looks dilapidated, causing many to feel saddened by the waste of such valuable land that remains unused.
