Gia Lai innovates trade promotion activities, stimulates consumption

(GLO)- After merging administrative units, the Industry and Trade Department of Gia Lai province focused on improving and innovating trade promotion work to adapt to the new context.

The Department of Industry and Trade has developed a trade promotion plan for the last months of 2025 focusing on the western part of the province with the orientation of exploiting the domestic market, consuming agricultural products and promoting regional growth.

Gia Lai Newspaper reporter had an interview with Mr. Nguyen Dinh Kha, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, about these contents.

▪ After the merger, what innovations has the provincial Department of Industry and Trade made in organizing and orienting trade promotion activities, sir?

- The merger of administrative units requires the reorganization and consolidation of the apparatus and the orientation of activities to be more suitable to reality. For the field of trade promotion (XTTM), we have reviewed all functions and tasks of specialized departments, especially the Trade Management Department, the Center for Industrial Promotion and Trade Promotion of the Department. From there, we have built a more focused, effective and focused action plan.

One of the clear innovations is to promote the application of digital transformation in trade promotion activities such as organizing fairs, seminars, connecting online supply and demand, e-commerce trading floors, etc. to support businesses to access the market flexibly and save costs. At the same time, we expand inter-sectoral coordination, not only with relevant departments and sectors but also connecting localities and businesses, thereby creating an ecosystem to support sustainable consumption of goods, especially the province's key agricultural products.

▪ How is the trade promotion plan for the last months of 2025 being implemented, especially in the context that the province is implementing Directive 08/CT-BCT on implementing solutions to continue promoting domestic market development and stimulating consumption in 2025?

- Following the direction of the Provincial People's Committee and the orientation of the Ministry of Industry and Trade in Directive 08/CT-BCT, the Department of Industry and Trade has developed a Trade Promotion Program Project for the last months of 2025 with the content of stimulating domestic consumption, prioritizing the West Gia Lai area, which is in need of new growth momentum after the merger.

Notably, we aim to maintain a stable consumption growth rate in this area through activities that directly reach the people such as: Vietnamese goods fairs in mountainous areas, agricultural products fairs, high-quality Vietnamese goods festivals, consumer fairs combining culture and tourism such as the Central Highlands gong festival...

The Department of Industry and Trade also closely coordinates with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Department of Finance in integrating events displaying and exhibiting agricultural products and handicrafts into community cultural programs, creating highlights to attract customers and promote local brands.

In addition, we focus on exploiting the potential of civil servants living in the East of the province but having consumption needs in the West, considering this a potential demand stimulation channel to create a reverse flow of goods from the center to the region.

▪ With a long-term orientation, what will the provincial Department of Industry and Trade do to develop the domestic market, expand exports, thereby promoting the local economy?

- In the long term, the Department of Industry and Trade aims to develop a sustainable, multi-channel, enterprise-centric domestic market. We continue to invest in e-commerce, digital transformation, and expand the distribution network of Vietnamese goods in rural and mountainous areas through models of Vietnamese points of sale, mini supermarkets, smart agricultural markets, etc.

On the export side, we focus on key potential products such as: Coffee, pepper, passion fruit, wood products and handicrafts. Through trade promotion programs, the Department will connect businesses in Gia Lai with foreign trade offices, and at the same time support training and improve capacity to access international markets.

Another key point is that we are working with localities to divide production and consumption into chains. When there is a clear production orientation, goods will easily find suitable output markets, especially agricultural products. This is how the Ministry of Industry and Trade hopes to promote trade and consumption of local products, contributing to the development of the province's economy in the new period.

It can be seen that the post-merger trade promotion work is not only about the arrangement of the apparatus, but also about the transformation of thinking and action. Innovations in market orientation, implementation methods, and proactive inter-sectoral coordination are helping the province gradually improve the efficiency of domestic consumption and expand export markets, especially in the Western region, which still has a lot of room for development.
