Strong winds and heavy rains are hindering recovery efforts in disaster-stricken communes in Nghe An province.

On the afternoon of August 5, a whirlwind occurred in My Ly commune (Nghe An), and some other communes and villages had heavy rain, affecting the recovery work.

Speaking to Nghe An Newspaper and Radio & Television, Mr. Luong Van Bay, Chairman of My Ly Commune People's Committee, said that a tornado occurred in the commune on the afternoon of August 5th.

Although it didn't cause major damage, the whirlwind did blow away some makeshift tents that people had set up to live in while waiting for their homes, which were damaged during the recent floods, to be repaired.

Earlier, there had been quite heavy rain in My Ly commune, but it didn't last long. Heavy rains were also recorded in other areas such as Muong Tip and Nhon Mai communes.

Due to landslides and uncleared mud on many roads, the rain has made it difficult for vehicles to travel to provide relief and support to the people and local authorities in overcoming the consequences of the floods.
