Ha Tinh adjusts retail electricity prices upwards.

Effective November 9, 2023, Ha Tinh Power Company implemented an upward adjustment in the average retail electricity price as directed by Vietnam Electricity Group.

Accordingly, the average retail price of electricity will increase to 2,006.79 VND/kWh (excluding value-added tax) from November 9, 2023.

This adjustment is equivalent to a 4.5% increase compared to the current average retail electricity price.

Ha Tinh currently sells electricity to over 470,000 customers.

It is known that, prior to the adjustment, the average retail electricity price was 1,920.3732 VND/kWh (excluding value-added tax), which was adjusted from May 4, 2023, according to Decision No. 377/QD-EVN dated April 27, 2023, on adjusting the average retail electricity price of Vietnam Electricity Group.

On November 8, 2023, the Ministry of Industry and Trade issued Decision No. 2941/QD-BCT regulating electricity prices, which includes the retail electricity prices for different customer groups and retail electricity prices for electricity retailers.

According to calculations by Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN), for residential electricity customers, after the electricity price adjustment, the maximum increase in electricity bills will be 3,900 VND/kWh for tier 1 (0-50 kWh); 7,900 VND/kWh for tier 2 (51-100 kWh); 17,200 VND/kWh for tier 3 (101-200 kWh); 28,900 VND/kWh for tier 4 (201-300 kWh); 42,000 VND/kWh for tier 5 (301-400 kWh); and 55,600 VND/kWh for tier 6 (401 kWh and above).

Essentially, this electricity price adjustment will ensure that poor households and families receiving social welfare benefits are affected only minimally.

According to statistics, in 2022, over 1.27 million poor households and households receiving social welfare benefits nationwide received electricity subsidies in accordance with the Government's policy. These poor households and households receiving social welfare benefits continue to receive support as stipulated in Decision No. 28/2014/QD-TTg dated April 7, 2014, of the Prime Minister .

Specifically, poor households receive monthly support equivalent to 30kWh of electricity per household per month. Social policy households with electricity consumption not exceeding 50 kWh per month receive monthly support equivalent to 30kWh of electricity per household per month.
