Dozens of tons of steel fell from a tractor trailer and hit two pedestrians.

At noon on December 3, a steel container truck broke loose while going down the slope of Thu Bien Bridge (Dong Nai), dozens of steel bars fell on two people, seriously injuring them.

At around 11:30 a.m., a container carrying steel was traveling on Highway 768 in Tan An Commune (formerly Vinh Cuu District). When it reached Thu Bien Bridge and reached a curve in Dong Nai Province, hundreds of steel bars suddenly slipped off the truck and fell onto the road.

Two motorcyclists on the road were not able to avoid the impact and were hit by the steel plates, injuring them. "The container was carrying iron bars, and when it turned the corner it fell off," said witness Lam. Some vehicles behind were able to brake in time, avoiding the collision.

Upon receiving the news, Tan An Commune Police and Dong Nai Provincial Traffic Police Department quickly arrived at the scene to assist in taking the injured to the hospital and directing traffic.

The accident caused Thu Bien bridge and two connecting roads in Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai to be congested.  

The cause of the incident is being investigated by the police.
