As Thanh Nien newspaper previously reported, the Vietnam Taekwondo Federation received a complaint from Mr. NTH (parent of 13-year-old student NTNM) regarding his son being beaten by a coach during training at the Seung Ri Taekwondo Club (Ho Nguyen Truong Street, Khue Trung Ward, Cam Le District, Da Nang City), where Mr. Nguyen Van Kin is the head coach and club owner.
According to the complaint, on the evening of January 9th, upon picking up his son and discovering signs of abuse, Mr. NTH used his phone to photograph all the marks on his son's body and reported the serious violation of child bodily integrity to the Da Nang City hotline. At the same time, Mr. NTH took the child to the Khue Trung Ward police station to file a complaint.
The police in Khue Trung ward instructed Mr. NTH to take his child to the hospital for a check-up to assess the injuries. After the examination, Mr. NTH brought his child back to the Khue Trung ward police station to provide a detailed statement from the child, NTNM. In addition, this parent also provided the phone number of Coach Nguyen Van Kin as requested by the police. The police invited Coach Nguyen Van Kin to come in for questioning on the evening of January 9th, and continued to take his statement on January 13th.
On January 14th, representatives from the VTF Inspection Board and the Da Nang Taekwondo Federation visited Mr. NTH's home to offer support and encouragement to his grandson, NTNM, and to further clarify the situation. On January 15th, representatives from the VTF Inspection Board submitted an official report to the Head of the VTF Inspection Board.
