At the meeting, the Resolution of the National Assembly Standing Committee was approved, appointing the Chairman, Vice Chairman, and Heads of the An Giang Provincial People's Council for the 2021-2026 term. Accordingly, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nhan was appointed to hold the position of Permanent Deputy Secretary and Chairman of the An Giang Provincial People's Council. The Vice Chairmen include Ms. Le Hong Tham, Ms. Dinh Thi Viet Huynh, and Mr. Giang Van Phuc.

The meeting also passed a resolution on the establishment of the Provincial People's Council Committees, the Office of the National Assembly Delegation and the Provincial People's Council. Accordingly, Mr. Pham Van Mau holds the position of Head of the Legal Committee; Mr. Ngo Hen holds the position of Head of the Economic - Budget Committee; Mr. Tong Van Kiem holds the position of Head of the Cultural - Social Committee; Mr. Le Thanh Dung holds the position of Head of the Ethnic Committee.

Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Tien Hai affirmed: The establishment of the new An Giang province is not only an adjustment of administrative boundaries, but also a strategic step in reforming the organizational apparatus, aiming at streamlining, effectiveness and efficiency. The new province will effectively connect the strengths of marine economy, high-tech agriculture, eco-tourism, culture and border trade of the two former provinces of Kien Giang and An Giang; expand the scale, enhance the competitiveness and position of An Giang in the region and the whole country.
Faced with new development requirements, especially when the Law on Organization of Local Government 2025 and regulations on decentralization and delegation of power officially take effect from July 1, 2025, the Provincial Party Secretary emphasized the particularly important role of the People's Council. Not only is it a local state power agency, the People's Council is also the center for deciding on important issues, an institution that ensures representative democracy, controls power and promotes modern governance.

Secretary Nguyen Tien Hai requested the People's Council and People's Committee of the new An Giang province to quickly complete the administrative apparatus at all levels after the merger, completing on the first day (July 1) the assignment of tasks, appointment of leaders, and issuance of working regulations so that the administrative system operates smoothly, without any gaps in responsibility. People's Councils at all levels need to promote their central role in planning development policies; proactively issue specific mechanisms and policies, effectively exploit local potential, ensure that resolutions are practical, feasible and bring positive impacts to the people.
Regarding supervision work, the Provincial Party Secretary suggested that the People's Council strongly innovate both content and form. Supervision is not only to detect problems, but also to criticize and propose solutions. The content of supervision needs to focus on areas of interest to voters such as land, public investment, administrative reform, health care, education and digital transformation...
“We have a new administrative organization, new resources and new expectations.
