Principal of Anh Duong Kindergarten resigns

TPO - Ms. Phan Thi Han Hue, Principal of Anh Duong Kindergarten (Ngai Giao town, Chau Duc district, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province), has submitted her resignation due to the controversy surrounding the teachers' meal consisting of only two pieces of sausage. In her resignation letter, Ms. Hue admitted to shortcomings and mismanagement that caused internal disunity at Anh Duong Kindergarten.

On October 19th, information from the Education and Training Department of Chau Duc district, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, indicated that Ms. Phan Thi Han Hue, Principal of Anh Duong Kindergarten (Ngai Giao town), had submitted her resignation. Anh Duong Kindergarten has been involved in several controversies recently, related to the incident where teachers' meals consisted of only two pieces of sausage.

Ms. Hue's resignation letter, signed on October 13th and sent to the Chau Duc District People's Committee and the Chau Duc District Department of Education and Training, requested to resign from her job effective November 1st due to health reasons and ongoing medical treatment. In the same letter, Ms. Hue admitted to shortcomings in management and administration that caused internal disunity at Anh Duong Kindergarten.

According to the head of the Chau Duc District Department of Education and Training, Ms. Hue's resignation letter was not processed because it was submitted while the District Inspectorate was conducting a comprehensive inspection of Anh Duong Kindergarten. According to regulations, the resignation letter can only be processed after the inspection results are available and Ms. Hue has rectified the shortcomings as recommended by the inspectorate.

On September 19th, Mr. Nguyen Tien Trung signed Decision No. 43/QD-TTr regarding a comprehensive inspection of Anh Duong Kindergarten. On October 18th, the Chau Duc District Inspectorate announced the inspection findings for Anh Duong Kindergarten. The conclusion clearly identified shortcomings at the school and recommended that the Chairman of the Chau Duc District People's Committee take disciplinary action against Ms. Phan Thi Han Hue and other related individuals.

The 30,000 VND meal for teachers at Anh Duong Kindergarten.

Previously, images and content shared on social media reflected that the 30,000 VND lunch trays served to teachers at Anh Duong Kindergarten only contained rice and two slices of Vietnamese sausage, along with a little fish sauce. Some other trays contained rice and a few pieces of stir-fried meat with bamboo shoots.

The post included the following message: “After posting about the embezzlement of children's meals and the retaliation against the whistleblower, some teachers at Anh Duong Kindergarten sent pictures of their extremely meager lunch meals. If even laborers are treated this way, imagine what it's like for children aged 2-5. Please don't look at the 30,000 VND meal of laborers with such indifference. Show concern and understanding with compassion.”

Based on the above information, the Chairman of the Chau Duc District People's Committee requested the Head of the Education and Training Department to preside over and coordinate with the District Culture and Information Department to verify and clarify the matter.

On the afternoon of September 17th, Mr. Nguyen Tan Ban, Chairman of the Chau Duc District People's Committee, directly held a dialogue with teachers and staff of Anh Duong Kindergarten to listen to their concerns and aspirations following the controversy surrounding the 30,000 VND lunch allowance.

Subsequently, the Chau Duc District People's Committee issued a decision to conduct a comprehensive inspection of Anh Duong Kindergarten. The inspection period covered from January 2022 to September 2024. The inspection team consisted of 12 people, led by Mr. Nguyen Thanh Huynh, Deputy Chief Inspector of Chau Duc District.

In addition, the Chau Duc District People's Committee has also reported on the progress of handling the case after the Ba Ria - Vung Tau Provincial People's Committee requested verification and clarification of information regarding the teachers' meal portions at Anh Duong Kindergarten.

At the 22nd meeting of the Executive Committee of the Ba Ria - Vung Tau Provincial Party Committee, held on the afternoon of October 7th, Mr. Pham Viet Thanh, Secretary of the Ba Ria - Vung Tau Provincial Party Committee, directed that the wrongdoings in the case where teachers at Anh Duong Kindergarten accused the principal of numerous violations must be quickly clarified.

The Secretary of the Ba Ria - Vung Tau Provincial Party Committee requested the Chau Duc District People's Committee to quickly clarify the violations and handle them strictly, emphasizing that there cannot be a delay simply because the principal is hospitalized. At the same time, it must be ensured that all policies of the province providing funds for kindergartens and preschools reach the intended beneficiaries; personal relationships cannot lead to irresponsibility or the distortion of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province's policies.
