Speaking at a press conference ahead of the FIFA Days friendly match against India, head coach Kim Sang-sik expressed confidence in his players and affirmed that the Vietnamese team would win to bring joy to the fans.
Currently experiencing a winless streak with 4 losses in their last 5 matches, the Vietnamese national team is under considerable psychological pressure ahead of their clash with India. Coach Kim Sang-sik shared: “Tomorrow's match will be played at Thien Truong Stadium, and I believe there will be a large number of enthusiastic supporters. The team will aim for victory to bring joy to the fans.”
Regarding the call-up of veteran player Van Quyet along with some players who rarely feature in the national team, such as Quoc Viet and Ngoc Quang, the South Korean coach explained: "I have watched all the players and their performances. The Vietnamese national team needs new energy and experienced players. They have a good connection with each other, and this will be very beneficial for the future."
Regarding the team's squad situation, coach Kim Sang-sik confirmed that Tien Linh and Viet Anh are not yet in their best physical condition, so their participation in the match against India is uncertain. "Tien Linh and Viet Anh are dealing with injuries and haven't been able to train fully with the team, but this won't have a significant impact. I believe the whole team will achieve a good result in tomorrow's match."
Regarding concerns about the attacking strength of the team due to Tuan Hai's absence from this training camp because of injury, and Tien Linh's lack of optimal fitness, coach Kim Sang-sik stated: “Tien Linh and Tuan Hai are good players, and I regret their injuries. However, I still have many talented players, so I believe the Vietnamese national team's attack will still perform well in terms of scoring goals. I am doing my best to create positive energy for the whole team. In addition, I am trying to bring joy to the fans and spectators after each match.”
Attending the press conference alongside coach Kim Sang-sik, young striker Nguyen Dinh Bac expressed his determination: “I am in the best spirits and physical condition for tomorrow's match. If I get to play, I will try my best to perform well.”
