On September 11th, Mr. Ta Van Ha, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee on Culture and Education, held a working session with the Da Nang City People's Committee to conduct a thematic survey on the implementation of the Youth Law regarding policies supporting youth entrepreneurship (2020-2023).

The entrepreneurial spirit among young people is spreading strongly.
The entrepreneurial spirit among young people is spreading strongly.

In recent times, many policies and initiatives aimed at supporting startup projects and businesses have yielded positive results.

To date, Da Nang City has supported 27 businesses, including providing direct funding to 19 innovative startups with a total budget of over 3.6 trillion VND; and supporting 8 businesses and institutes in implementing incubation and acceleration programs. On average, each incubator has incubated and accelerated 6-8 projects per year. Of these, nearly 70% of the projects and businesses are owned by young people.

Timely and practical support activities help innovative startups and youth-owned startups gradually commercialize their products, and develop and orient themselves towards markets.

According to Mr. Tran Chi Cuong, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang City People's Committee, Da Nang is always striving to achieve the goals of Resolution No. 43-NQ/TW of the Politburo , making Da Nang a center for innovation and entrepreneurship in the Central and Central Highlands regions and the nation. However, the implementation process shows that innovation and entrepreneurship is still largely driven by trends, lacking the necessary mechanisms, policies, and legal frameworks to promote its implementation. In previous years, most university graduates chose to go to Ho Chi Minh City to work and start businesses. Therefore, the challenge for the locality is how to retain young people to work in their hometown.

To create a breakthrough in developing the local innovation and startup ecosystem and support young entrepreneurs in the coming time, Ms. Le Thi Thuc, Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Da Nang City, said that Da Nang should focus on effectively implementing mechanisms and policies to support startups, with a focus on young people. At the same time, it should implement specific mechanisms and policies on science and technology management and innovative startups based on Resolution No. 136/2024/QH15 dated June 26, 2024, of the National Assembly. In addition, it should focus on improving infrastructure serving startups to provide centralized workspaces, startup training and coaching, and facilities to support and connect small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and innovative startups…

In addition, it is necessary to strengthen and expand cooperation with innovation and startup ecosystems in localities both domestically and internationally that have strong innovation and startup activities, such as the United States, Japan, South Korea, Australia, Finland, Singapore, etc., thereby exchanging experiences, attracting investment funds for youth startups, and connecting relevant partners.

Similarly, Mr. Le Cong Hung, Deputy Secretary of the Da Nang City Youth Union, informed that the City Youth Union continues to coordinate with the Department of Education and Training and the Department of Science and Technology to integrate programs and counseling sessions for students in the area. At the same time, they encourage the establishment of innovation and entrepreneurship centers in schools and entrepreneurship clubs, thereby helping young people gain knowledge, passion, and support to start their own businesses.

Looking at the reality, Mr. Ta Van Ha, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee on Culture and Education, highly appreciated the innovative startup movement in Da Nang. He also agreed on the key tasks for Da Nang in the coming period to promote this activity. Da Nang needs to strengthen connections between businesses, access resources, venture capital funds, and angel investors. In the future, Da Nang will be a land of opportunity, a center for innovative startups not only for the Central and Central Highlands regions but also a national center for innovative startups.
