Attending the workshop were leaders from the General Department of Tourism , the Department of Tourism, representatives from UNWTO-RSOAP, the Provincial Tourism Association, and tourism service businesses in the province.

In recent years, sustainable tourism has become a new trend in the global tourism landscape. This trend helps minimize costs, promote economic growth, maximize the benefits of tourism without causing negative impacts on the natural environment and local communities, and gradually reduce the tourism industry's dependence on readily available resources.

However, not all countries and localities have implemented the right approach and have clear goals and strategies to achieve "sustainable tourism". Many destinations are facing difficulties in managing and developing sustainable tourism. The rapid growth has caused many destinations to face the risk of destroying landscape elements, ecological environment, historical culture and sustainable livelihoods of the people.

Comrade Bui Van Manh, Director of the Ninh Binh Department of Tourism, delivered a speech at the workshop.

Over the years, Ninh Binh province has consistently focused on making tourism a key economic sector, identifying sustainable tourism development as a consistent principle. This includes ensuring a harmonious balance between tourism development and environmental protection, creating livelihoods for local people, and preserving cultural and historical values.

Ninh Binh focuses on exploiting tourism products with "high cultural content," improving service quality, and emphasizing the building and development of a tourism destination brand through unique products and a safe, friendly, and attractive tourism environment.

At the workshop, delegates learned about the potential and development of sustainable tourism in Ninh Binh. In particular, the "Handbook on Sustainable Tourism Management through Tourism" (introduced by the World Tourism Organization) and the practical exercise on "Sustainable Destination Management through Tourism" in Vietnam provided valuable experience for Ninh Binh to refer to and apply in practice.
