This event is part of the Ho Chi Minh City Student Youth Festival 2024, organized by the Student Cultural Center, to celebrate the 93rd anniversary of the founding of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory, and the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and the reunification of the country.
This year's cross-country race promotes interaction between schools. More than 3,000 students from universities and colleges participated in the Ho Chi Minh City Student Cross-Country Race.
The race is divided into two categories: men's and women's. The race distance is 5km, spread across the grounds of the Ho Chi Minh City National University Village.
Ms. Tran Thu Ha, Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union and President of the Vietnam Student Association of Ho Chi Minh City, stated: "The Ho Chi Minh City Student Youth Festival in general, and the student cross-country race in particular, are considered an important satellite of the 2024 Youth Festival with many beneficial and interesting activities."
The Standing Committee of the City Youth Union - Secretariat of the Vietnam Student Association of Ho Chi Minh City hopes that all union members, association members, young people, students, and pupils will experience and immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the festival, actively participate in and share activities, playgrounds, and competitions to learn, interact, connect, and share."
Students from Ho Chi Minh City University of Culture participated in the race.
Hoang Anh (a student from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities), participating in the women's competition, shared: "From early morning, I noticed the atmosphere here was very lively. Everyone was well-prepared and serious about participating in the race. Although I don't usually run, I still wanted to participate to experience it and have the opportunity to improve my health."
Nam (a student at Saigon University) said after completing the race that this was the first time he had run around the university campus without riding a motorbike. While running, he could breathe in the fresh air and admire the lush green campus. He also had the opportunity to socialize with new friends who share his passion for cross-country running and hopes to continue participating in future races.
