Many universities have announced their 2025 admission plans, which include continuing to use high school transcripts as the admission method.
According to the newly announced admissions plan, the Academy of Journalism and Communication plans to allocate 20% of its enrollment quota for admission based on academic transcripts, an increase of 5% compared to 2024. Depending on the major, the admission score will be calculated by adding the average score of 6 semesters plus the average score of Literature, History, or English, multiplied by a factor of two.
This year, the Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City is allocating 15% of its enrollment quota for direct admission, prioritizing students from 149 high schools based on their academic transcripts (the list of schools is updated annually).
The University of Architecture announces the admission process for subjects in the corresponding admission combinations over 6 semesters for the following majors and specializations: Water Supply and Drainage Engineering; Urban Infrastructure Engineering; Urban Environmental Engineering; Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Technology; Transportation Construction Engineering; Construction Project Management; Urban Underground Construction; Civil and Industrial Construction; and Construction Materials Technology.

According to the draft university admission regulations for 2025, schools are allowed to consider early to select candidates with outstanding abilities and academic achievements. However, the early admission quota will not exceed 20%, and the admission score will not be lower than the standard score of the admission round according to the general plan of the Ministry of Education and Training.
Regarding the admission process based on academic transcripts, the Ministry of Education and Training requires a combination of at least three subjects, including either Mathematics or Literature, with a weighting of at least one-third of the total score. A single major or training program may use several subject combinations simultaneously. In that case, the combined weighting of subjects from all combinations must account for at least 50% of the total score.
In particular, schools must use the candidates' entire 12th grade academic results, instead of using 3-5 semester scores as at present.
