More than 95,000 candidates registered for the Hanoi National University's capacity assessment exam

Registration for the HSA competency assessment test is still open, but more than 95,000 candidates have already successfully registered, accounting for 99% of the planned number of spots and the highest number ever.

On the morning of March 6th, Hanoi National University opened registration for the second HSA aptitude test, allowing candidates to choose their test time slot from three sessions taking place in May and June. Approximately 51,800 places are expected for these sessions. Test locations will be in 11 provinces and cities, including Hanoi, Thai Nguyen, Hung Yen, Hai Duong, Nam Dinh, Ninh Binh, Thai Binh , Hai Phong, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, and Ha Tinh.

According to Mr. Nguyen Tien Thao, Director of the Testing Center at Hanoi National University, including all six HSA exam sessions this year, 95,000 candidates have completed their exam session selection, reaching 99% of the planned number of available spots.

"Just over an hour after registration opened today, most exam locations in Hanoi are full. Only the provinces still have available spots," Mr. Thao informed.

Compared to last year, the number of registered candidates has increased by more than 5,000, and is expected to increase further in the coming days because, according to the design, the exam can accommodate approximately 103,000 places. This is the highest number ever.

According to Mr. Thao, the registered candidates came from 58 provinces and cities nationwide. The localities with the largest number of candidates were Hanoi (36%), Nam Dinh (6.7%), Thai Binh, Thanh Hoa, and Nghe An (5.1-5.8%).

During the second registration period, network congestion still occurred, with nearly 84,000 candidates accessing the site simultaneously at one point. However, the disruption did not last as long as on February 18th. After about 15 minutes, parents and candidates were able to log in again.

The registration portal for the aptitude test will remain open until the maximum number of candidates is reached or closes 14-18 days before the official test date. The Hanoi National University Examination Center will notify candidates of their registration number, room, and test location on their accounts 7 days before the test.

The National University of Hanoi's HSA (Higher Skills Assessment Exam) was held in 2015 and 2016, then discontinued until 2021 when it resumed. The current HSA exam is computer-based, lasting 195 to 199 minutes, with a maximum score of 150. The exam consists of three parts: multiple-choice questions and fill-in-the-blank questions in Mathematics (50 questions, 75 minutes), Literature and Language (50 questions, 60 minutes), and Natural and Social Sciences (50 questions, 60 minutes). Parts 1 and 3 include 1-3 additional trial questions, which are not scored.

Candidates can check their exam scores and receive their certificates after 14 days. Currently, 90 schools have stated that they will use the results of the Hanoi National University's aptitude test for admissions. Among them, 17 military schools are using the scores from this exam for the first time.

Last year, more than 90,000 candidates registered, the number of candidates was 87,000, the valedictorian scored 133/150 points. The minimum score for receiving applications by this method of schools is commonly from 70 to 85 points.

Currently, there are more than 10 aptitude and thinking skills assessment exams nationwide. Among them, the exams of the two national universities are the largest in scale. The Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City reported that the first phase of the exam had over 96,000 registered candidates, also a record high.
