Join forces to bring the capsized boat ashore after catching 1.5 tons of herring

A fishing boat from Ha Tinh province caught a massive haul of nearly 1.5 tons of herring at sea. While returning, the boat capsized, and local people rushed to the scene to rescue the fishermen and bring them ashore.

On the morning of March 10th, Mr. Nguyen Cong Huong, chairman of the People's Committee of Thach Tri commune (Ha Tinh City), said that many local people had just organized to help bring a fisherman's boat, which had capsized, ashore after a successful fishing trip with a large catch of herring.

Accordingly, on the morning of March 9th, Mr. Ho Phi Anh (54 years old, residing in Toan Thang village, Thach Tri commune) and another fisherman took their 24CV boat out to local waters about 9 nautical miles from the shore to catch seafood.

Here, the fishermen discovered a large school of herring and worked together to cast their nets to catch them. At around 8 am that same day, two fishermen pulled up a catch of herring, weighing approximately 1.5 tons, onto their boat.

However, as the boat approached the shore, due to the rough seas and its considerable weight, it capsized and could not dock. In this situation, the two fishermen immediately left the boat and called upon dozens of local residents and a tractor to help pull the boat and the caught fish safely ashore.

Currently, traders are buying herring at around 20,000 VND/kg. The approximately 1.5 tons of herring caught have brought in a significant income.

According to the leaders of Thach Tri commune People's Committee, the locality has nearly 200 small-capacity fishing boats operating near the shore, of which about 80 boats are engaged in herring fishing.

For about a week now, fishermen in the commune and coastal areas have been having bumper catches of herring on each trip out to sea.
