Project code VIE071 funded by the Government of Japan, implemented in the period 2021-2024, aims to increase the participation of the elderly in income-generating activities and access to health care services as well as community-based social care.

Implemented in selected communities in 6 provinces and cities including: Hoa Binh, Thanh Hoa, Quang Binh , Da Nang, Khanh Hoa and Ninh Thuan, the project "Reducing income and health vulnerabilities of the elderly in Vietnam" aims to build practical and sustainable support models for the elderly.

The project consists of four main components: Establishing and enhancing the operational capacity of intergenerational self-help clubs; income security; community-based health care and social care; project management and operation, monitoring, supervision and evaluation, sharing of models and lessons learned.

Thus, after more than 3 years of implementation in 6 localities, the project has helped expand 186 more clubs, bringing direct benefits to about 21,000 people, mostly the elderly, women, and people in difficult circumstances.

These results not only improve the quality of life for the elderly in the six provinces and cities, but also support these six localities to adapt to rapid population aging, towards sustainable and comprehensive development.
