Cold air strengthens, Central region has heavy rain and strong winds

In Northern Vietnam and Thanh Hoa and Nghe An provinces, the weather remains intensely cold, with severe cold in mountainous areas; the area from Ha Tinh to Thua Thien Hue will also experience cold weather. During this cold spell, the lowest temperatures at night and early morning in Northern Vietnam and Thanh Hoa and Nghe An provinces will generally range from 9-12 degrees Celsius, while in the mountainous areas of Northern Vietnam they will generally range from 5-8 degrees Celsius, with some high mountainous areas experiencing temperatures below 3 degrees Celsius; in the area from Ha Tinh to Thua Thien Hue provinces, temperatures will generally range from 14-17 degrees Celsius.

At sea, from December 19th, in the Gulf of Tonkin, the northeast wind will strengthen to level 6, sometimes level 7, gusting to level 8-9, with waves 2-4m high and rough seas; in the northern South China Sea (including the waters around the Hoang Sa archipelago), the northeast wind will be strong at level 7, gusting to level 9, with waves 5-7m high and rough seas.
