Beautify and enrich Quang Ngai city

After chatting for a while, the architect shared that the museum's location on Pham Van Dong Street at the time was not aesthetically pleasing from an urban architectural perspective. The straight line from Mount An to Mount But in Quang Ngai formed a stunning elevated landscape. Building the museum across that road was therefore highly inappropriate.

Back then, I found the architect's suggestions very reasonable, but it wasn't easy to convey his feedback to the province. So I had to wait.

Just recently, I met Mr. Tran Hoang Tuan, the Standing Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province, and I heard him say that Quang Ngai province has a plan to relocate the Provincial General Museum to the foot of But Mountain, and will open Pham Van Dong road to run straight to the southern bank of the Tra Khuc River. Thus, if you stand on An Mountain and look straight towards But Mountain, you will see a straight line high above, corresponding to the extension of Pham Van Dong road.

Hearing Mr. Tuan's words, I was overjoyed. It seems the sincere suggestion from the Hanoi architect many years ago will now be implemented. And not only will the museum be relocated, but Quang Ngai province will also build a beautiful green park and square right at the foot of But Mountain.

The sacred and beloved But Mountain, steeped in the history of Quang Ngai for generations, will also be restored. Since But Mountain is called "Thien But Phe Van" (Heavenly Pen Writing on Clouds), then the "pen" is none other than greenery. However, precious timber trees, those with a lifespan of hundreds or even thousands of years, must be planted on But Mountain. Not acacia trees as some have suggested.

Now, Quang Ngai province has developed a 1/500 scale planning project for the Thien But Park area. Overall, this project is suitable for Quang Ngai province's implementation capabilities. By adding the Provincial General Museum, the Provincial Library, the tower on top of Thien But mountain, and the valuable trees planted around the tower, the plan becomes large-scale yet logical, avoiding fragmented architectural planning and ensuring overall coherence. If public opinion is sought, it will likely gain support. After all, everyone wants Quang Ngai City to fundamentally improve its appearance after many years of lacking public amenities.

The project proposes a solution to restore the Cham tower on Thien But mountain peak, focusing on promoting its cultural and historical value, protecting the relic, improving the mountain's landscape, and creating a focal point to attract tourists .

Regarding the Cham tower symbol on Thien But peak, its restoration requires thorough historical research. For centuries, thousands of years ago, the Quang Ngai region was inhabited by the Cham people. Later, they intermarried with the Vietnamese, resulting in the "Quang Ngai people" we know today.

Therefore, the Cham tower on top of Thien But Mountain will be restored standing amidst ancient trees (within the next 20 years), including precious timber trees. The canopies of these precious trees will cast shadows towards the sky like a "pen" writing on the white clouds. This also symbolizes a forward-looking future for learning and intellectual achievements of the children of Quang Ngai.

It seems that, between the "Seal of Heaven" (Thiên Ấn) and the "Pen of Heaven" (Thiên Bút), the people of Quang Ngai would choose the Pen, as it symbolizes knowledge, modern science, and the path that will lead Quang Ngai to develop in science, culture, technology, literature, and art. This aligns perfectly with the bright path that our entire country is currently taking and will continue to take.

From a suggestion about beautiful urban landscaping on Pham Van Dong road more than 20 years ago by an architect who loved Quang Ngai, Quang Ngai has now gone even further to make Quang Ngai City more beautiful, richer, and more attractive.

It's not just about attracting tourists; it could also draw renowned scientists, technologists, cultural figures, and artists to Quang Ngai City to contribute their hearts, efforts, and talents to make Quang Ngai truly prosperous, beautiful, happy, and compassionate.
