The Thang Long Imperial Citadel was recognized by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage in 2010. This was the royal palace of many dynasties: Ly, Tran, Le, Mac, and Le Trung Hung. Among them, Kinh Thien Palace is the most important work of the ancient Thang Long Imperial Citadel in terms of capital planning, architecture, art, and spirituality.

Through the ups and downs of dynasties and history, Thang Long Imperial Citadel still preserves thousands of precious artifacts, including many National Treasures. Typical examples include: The Kinh Thien Palace ramparts of the Early Le Dynasty with 4 stone dragons quite intact and some valuable archaeological relics. This is a rare heritage remaining in the Imperial Citadel architecture. The Kinh Thien Palace ramparts with dragon images typical of 17th - 18th century sculpture have been recognized by the Prime Minister as a National Treasure.

Since October 2004, the Management Board of the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long has officially opened its doors to visitors. The Citadel - Kinh Thien Palace area has become one of the most attractive tourist destinations, attracting a large number of domestic and foreign tourists.
