Kinhtedothi - This morning, February 7th, at the Youth Park of Hanoi, the People's Committee of Hai Ba Trung District organized the launching ceremony of the "Tree Planting Festival in Eternal Gratitude to Uncle Ho" for the Spring of the Year of the Snake 2025. Attending the program was: Mr. Nguyen Van Phong, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi City Party Committee.
Also attending were: Vice Chairman of the Hanoi City People's Council Pham Qui Tien, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi City Nguyen Thi Kim Dung; leaders of the district and representatives of departments, units, and wards in Hai Ba Trung District.
Speaking at the launching ceremony, Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee and Chairman of the Hai Ba Trung District People's Committee, Nguyen Quang Trung, emphasized the significance of President Ho Chi Minh 's call to "Spring is the time for planting trees, making the country ever more vibrant and beautiful." To date, the Tree Planting Festival has become a beautiful traditional cultural feature of the Vietnamese people during the joyful days of Tet and welcoming Spring.
According to the Chairman of the District People's Committee, in recent times, the district has seen the investment in many new projects, along with the planting and addition of many trees in parks, public playgrounds, flower gardens, neighborhoods, and schools, increasing green cover. As a result, green space has increased significantly, meaning that the green lung of the district and the capital city is developing day by day.
Notably, Hai Ba Trung District continues to be entrusted by the city with managing the Capital Youth Park with 1,332 shade trees; Thong Nhat Park with 2,413 shade trees, flower gardens, lakes, etc., focusing on investment, management, maintenance, and upkeep of the technical infrastructure and green spaces. This contributes to ensuring the landscape and creating cultural, recreational, and sports spaces for the people to enjoy.
"Agencies, units, organizations, and every citizen in the district need to raise awareness and take action to plant, protect, and care for trees in their localities, agencies, units, and families. This will contribute to preserving the environment and building a more sustainably developed district," Mr. Nguyen Quang Trung emphasized.
In parallel, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Hai Ba Trung District also requested relevant units to take responsibility for inspecting and handling violations regarding the management and protection of urban green spaces and parks, preventing the encroachment and illegal use of land designated for green spaces, parks, flower gardens, lawns, and tree nurseries. At the same time, emphasis should be placed on managing the area, preventing encroachment and illegal use of areas planned for green spaces and parks.
"I believe that the spring tree planting ceremony and the number of trees planted on Vo Thi Sau street and at the entrance to the Youth Park of Hanoi today is a good start for the officials and people of Thanh Nhan ward in particular and the entire district in general, creating momentum for the implementation and completion of the tree planting plan assigned to the district by the city," Mr. Nguyen Quang Trung affirmed.
Speaking in response to the launching ceremony, the Head of the Urban Technical Infrastructure Management Board of Hai Ba Trung District, Hoang Anh Tuan, said that the Board had proactively developed a plan and focused on implementing activities related to tree planting and environmental sanitation in the district. This includes reviewing dangerous trees that need pruning, replanting, and replacing them by 2025 throughout the district.
At the same time, the Board will inspect, supervise, and direct the contractor to ensure the maintenance and upkeep of trees and flower gardens in the area, keeping them green, clean, beautiful, and thriving; advise the District People's Committee and coordinate with relevant agencies and units to effectively implement measures ranging from public awareness campaigns to concrete actions to ensure environmental protection and sanitation in the area…
Immediately after the launching ceremony, the Standing Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi City Party Committee, Nguyen Van Phong, along with leaders, officials, and staff of Hai Ba Trung District and related units, proceeded to plant trees on the sidewalk of Vo Thi Sau Street, at the entrance to the Capital Youth Park (Thanh Nhan Ward). The number of trees planted this morning was 19 small-leaved Terminalia trees (Taiwanese Terminalia).
